It is a pressure fit to the rail on the bottom of the frame. It will work with most pistols that have a rail. It is not extremely stable but is good for center of mass at 25 yards during multiple quick re-acquire shots. If I take my time I can make consistent 50 yard shots with it on my 45GAP, I haven't tried it with the 10mm at that distance.

I have a buddy that has just set up a custom gun shop (he is still waiting on the paperwork for his FFL). He is the owner/manager/CNC programmer and has 4 part-time gunsmiths doing custom works for their specialties (Walther/Glock/S&W polymer, S&W Revolver/AR, 1911/AR, and Ruger/AR).  My Glock 20SF will be the test piece for the large frame Glocks. He is getting more popular setups first but he has told me it should be late August when he gets to mine.  He is going to round the edges, add side serrations the length of the side, a RMR cut for my optic, and possible inner shaving for weight reduction and some decorative cuts to show off the stainless barrel.

If the CNC takes off like he wants he will also be doing scroll work for BBQ guns. I have a stainless S&W model 65 that was a LEO gun that has lots of holster wear but the cylinder, forcing cone, and barrel look brand new. I picked it up for $350  shipped to my FFL a few years back when a fair to good condition Model 65 was selling in the high 500 to mid 600 dollar range. I would spend another $350 to get the scratches and the last 4 of the serial number that was etched into the side frame covered up with fancy scroll work. I would splurge to put a set of burl grips on it if this works out.

awesome! I hope he does well. CNC work around these parts is very popular. Guy I grew up with, he owns a gun shop now, and his specialty is silencers and laser etching. he sells all the usual stuff, but the laser etching is like printing money for himself, and he has like a 2 month wait list.

He was mildly into guns and was not happy with a big dollar suppressor he got for a 22LR pistol. He is an engineer (GA Tech ME) and got outsourced from the company he has worked at the past 15 years back in March. He had been looking to starting his own business and with the layoff payment he made it happen. His plans are custom gun upgrades, mill work, CNC work, etching, silencers, and custom full builds (he wants to eventually make his own 1911 and AR brand). His big holdup right now is the backlog of FFL licensing.  He can't ship a gun so he is locked down to local work that has to be delivered and picked up in person. His part-time help mostly have 40 hour a week jobs and are moonlighting until things get big enough they can quit their day jobs.

Picked up a new 1911 a few months back, today I ordered another .22 cal Pellet Rifle !
A Crosman Diamondback Nitro Piston Elite... 15% more power than the earlier model.
The original model came out in May 2018, guessing it was time to upgrade the Nitro Piston for the additional power.
Reviews are good, lighter than similar .22 models.
I also like the hand grip, give the feel of the ARs.

Comes with a Scope but it has front and rear hard sights, which are my choice.

Waiting for the Rifle to be back in stock.
I think this Covid thing is getting a little carried away.

Hoping for a fast delivery

Thinking on a PCP Rifle, only time will tell.

I had a 2k box of 10mm/40 cal 200 gr hollow point bullets show up today. I ordered these back in May and had forgotten about them. Since I ordered them I have loaded up every 10mm case I had with 135gr frangable bullets. They will be heavily used at the range in the next few range trips.

I now have 500 Starline cases on order. I would order more but they are a bit expensive.  If I am going to buy brass I might as well buy the good stuff. I am also going big with the powder. I am splurging going with the high dollar Vitavuori powder as I can get 1300 fps on the 200 gr bullets with that powder.  It will probably be lower fps for a consistent load but the potential is there. I would like to get a 1200-1250 fps accurate load. I am going to have almost 65 cents per round invested in the first 500 bullets. It will drop to 40 cents per round with subsequent reloading but these are self defense rounds. They go for over a dollar a round from the factory if you can find it.

These should be more powerful than a 45 ACP+p, 45GAP, and in-line with 41 Magnum power. If I could afford a 44 Automag the 10mm would still be my choice because of the firepower.

Been wanting a 9mm 1911 for a long time. Finally pulled the trigger on one:

Citadel, isn't that the polymer-framed 1911?

I looked at a Citadel 45ACP that had the polymer frame last spring. It was a lot lighter and reasonably priced but I talked myself out of it.

CMP is getting ready for the second 1911 lottery. I didn't bother with the first lottery as I knew the odds were low on getting a good working, historical, 1911 45ACP. The second round is open to those who did not get a chance in the first lottery or who has not purchased a 1911 on the auction site.  The opening day is January 4, 2021 for those that are eligible to purchase a CMP weapon.

I will be sending in my application for a 1911 this time. For about the same money I can purchase a new Colt 1911 Government model with a competition barrel and about 5 magazines. The CMP 1911's have been instantly worth 130-150% their purchase price for those that decided to re-sale them. As a reminder at this time it is a one time only purchase as you are out of the purchase pool for future sales. I honestly think they are overpriced but the open market price has them worth more than CMP is charging. I am willing to drop $1000 on a Field Grade as they are going for $1500 on Gun Broker. If I get one it will be a safe queen that will see little time at the range.

Also the CMP has M1 Garands back in stock in limited numbers.

Generally we devout our posts to the sales pg but since this is a out of context topic.  We thought to add it in actual conversation.

Much like Del Taco or In & Out we have a bit of a secret menu too but every once in awhile we move items into the public realm.  We have a pretty large following of prior or current LEO & Military personnel from all branches.  We can put up a line card of brands if enough curiosity exists.

Discreet Rifle Cases & Class III Ballistic Panel Book Bags w/Concealment Options

We find these still relative to overlanding needs along with locking drawer systems.

From many options of firearm care or storage to some parts, magazines, scopes (Leupold & Bushnell) and red-dots (Trijicon & Holsun) & More, brass (Sigarms and Winchester), and more..

Today was a 357 Magnum sweetness day. I had an acquaintance give me a pound of IMR 4227 powder, about 2k in 38SPL/357MAG cases, 500 158gr JHP bullets, and about 700 158gr SWC bullets. I worked up some test bullets for 357MAG and the JHP. I found a sweet spot in the load that sends the bullet downrange at 1272 fps with a 2" pattern at 25 yards.

IMR 4227 is an old school powder that is not used much except for magnum loads. It is a fairly slow burn and it requires a magnum primer. It is also fairly bulky so it fills the case with a max load and standard bullet setback. It burns fairly clean and at .3 grains less than max load the recoil is not too bad - this is my load. What is a bit disappointing is that I am getting about 160fps less than the published results for a 158gr JHP with the amount of powder I used.  That is the difference of a manufacturer using a 10" bolt action barrel and a Smith & Wesson K Model revolver with a 4" barrel.

I pressed out 357 Mag JHP ammo to use up the free powder. I have about 370 rounds. I am down to about 150 empty 357 mag cases. I will need to find another powder to press out the rest.  That will be another adventure sometime in the future.  I plan on loading up some hot 38SPL SWC in the 900-1000 fps range next with powder that I normally stock.

I haven't dropped the hammer on a live round since the middle of July.  With 9mm virtually non-existent, I'm saving the 1800+ rounds I have in case this political nightmare becomes more weird than it already is.  I have about 800 rounds of 22LR that I *COULD* use, but I wouldn't bet my life on using it.  I'm ready for ammo to be plentiful again.  I've spent a butt load of $$$ on a membership to a local gun club, so I would have a legal place to shoot.  Now I won't use it because of the ammo shortage.  C'mon 2021, give us a break!

Last trip to the range my 1911 9mm Colt became a jam-o-matic. Nothing worked.  I have ordered springs as everything looked good when I cleaned it.  It has about 22k rounds through it.

I have read a lot about 1911s having all kinds of issues if they are ANYTHING but .45 cal.  I don't personally own a 1911.  My son has two, but both are .45.  I don't know if there is any truth to that, but with 22K rounds through it, you probably know that gun well.  Hope you figure out the issue!

My dad was a 1911 fanatic. He had most brands in all available calibers. His view was the 38 Super was the best caliber for the 1911 platform with the 9mm a close second. I wasn't that big a fan as I liked the Browning Hi-Power design better.  Beyond "here, try this one" I was not that impressed as most 45ACP, all 10mm, 400 Corbon, .455 Webley, and 9—23mm Winchester as the hard hitters would pinch the palm of my hand when I shot it. I have never liked a gun that hurt when you shot it. His carry piece was a Commander in 38Super that he had a 9mm Lugar conversion. He kept it in 9mm.

I am kicking myself for not taking a greater interest in 1911's and the tuning aspects. I only paid enough attention to field strip a 1911.  Every 1911 dad had he would be polishing a piece, tuning the ejection, or changing the slide spring to make it shoot like it was supposed to. He always said the best 1911 made was the Colt Government model and that is what I have. It has been by far the best new pistol with a tight lockup, competition barrel, crisp trigger, and fiber optic sights.

It is clean right now. It had been a few months since I have done anything past spraying it down with brake cleaner, run a copper brush of Hoppe's #9 down the barrel, and lube it. There were no deep cleanings. I cleaned some big carbon deposits that were inside. It is my understanding that the springs on a 9mm are supposed to last twice as long as a 45ACP. I have also seen a 45 ACP Kimber's mainspring worn out at 1000 rounds.  I am hoping the springs fix it.

New springs certainly won't hurt.  Good place to start, I would think.

I ordered the springs 2 weeks ago and the status is still "order received".  I guess they are backed up like everything else related to weapons.

Yesterday's range trip was expensive. It cost me about 12 cents per round for 38 Special when I pressed out the 90 rounds I shot. The 45GAP cost me about 13 cents per round also and I blew through 120 rounds. I also shot 25 rounds of 6.8SPC which cost me about 31 cents per round. I typically shoot 250-350 rounds on a range trip. Of those 200 or so would normally be 9mm.  I have a gallon bucket of 127 grain lead round nose that my brother-in-law cast and coated last summer. I gave him a pound of powder that cost me $22 when I bought it 6 years ago for the gallon of bullets. My guess is that there are 4 to 5 thousand bullets. I am pressing out a 9mm for less than a nickel per round. The 9mm is cheap to shoot. The BIL doesn't shoot 45. I might buy him a cheap 1911 to get him casting 45...

My BIL shoots 9mm, 380, and 300 Blackout. He has a neighbor that is a machinist for the rail road. The RR guy makes their molds and has a chain mold machine he designed that can pump out a lot of bullets. They process one day every month where they cast in the morning and coat the bullets in the afternoon.  My BIL has multiple gallon buckets of cast bullets for his calibers in his workshop. I will get a bucket of 9mm from him once or twice a year for ridiculously low price. I shoot about 90% of his cast bullets in 9mm. Go back 2 years and I shot about 15K of 9mm. I haven't shot 500 rounds this year. I have cut back my shooting to keep it where I am not loosing my shooting skills. With rifle it is a once a year to maintain the skill. Pistol requires more training. I have to go at least every two weeks and blow off 200 rounds just to maintain my skillset. When I blew out my elbow I could not shoot for over a year. It took 4 years before I got back to where I was before the accident. I shot 6 for 6 in a 4" target at 50 yards with the S&W 65 .357 yesterday.  I do not want to loose that skillset.

"Expensive" LMAO  You're so funny!

My shooting skill set is in the toilet now.  I still practice one holster draw per day when I go upstairs to bed.  I draw and aim down the hallway of the en suite to lay a bead on the towel rack at the back of the bathroom.  Then I lay the gun on my nightstand.  I try to maintain muscle memory for an accurate draw.  As for actually hitting anything with a live round, I imagine I have less than a snowball's chance in hell.

The springs arrived yesterday. I tore the 1911 down to the frame. I had 2 extra parts  from my last 1911 frame teardown in the late 70's. I got on YouTube and the guy didn't have the extra parts on his rebuild. In the last seconds he said "follow my strip and rebuild of  series 80 1911".  My 1911 is a series 80 and it has the extra parts.  It took 6 hours to put this 1911 back together. I had a gunked up firing pin and extractor. It has between 12k to 15k  rounds and all I have ever done was a field strip cleaning. I will hit the range soon to see how it works.

12k to 15k... that's a lot of rounds without a complete tear down.  My guess is that it will run flawlessly when you take it out to the range.

Nope. I put the series 80 parts in wrong. I could not not load a magazine. All of the parts can be installed with them fitting only one way. The specific  series 80 parts fit 4 different ways to screw up  the re-build.

Well, let see, I mentioned the .22 Cal Air Rifle.
I have .22 Cal. Break-Barrel, works great when varmint hunting, but I wanted something with a good hard sights on it.
So instead of buying the previously mentioned new Break-Barrel, I went ahead and entered a new realm of Air Rifles... enter the PCP Air Rifle.
PCP stands for "PreCharged Pneumatic" Rifle and they have a slightly faster Pellet Speed, 975 fps.
I purchased a Benjamin Armada, .22 Cal., PCP, Mag Pull Tactical Rifle.   Once I got the Rifle I had to get an Air Tank, all the connecting stuff and they wanted to sell me a Compressor to fill the tank.   A compressor that takes so long to fill just the rifle's air chamber I could have made and drank a cup of coffee, walk to the barn and cleaned up a little... butt the directions say DO NOT leave the compress alone while running... WTF !  Oh ya, if I needed a quick fill compress I could buy one for $1245.00 plus shipping and local taxes, LMFAO !
So instead I go the the local Scuba Shop, $12 buck to fill the tank, takes about three months to run the tank low enough to need to refill the tank...  saves a little there.
The Rifle, the Armada, before any tuning is done on her, using MagPull Flip-up sights, Mag Pull Stock, and Mag Pull Grip... she was hitting low on a target pined to a 2x6, I adjust the sights and got her to be close to the bull's eye.   I attempted to dig out a pellet from the 2x6 without success, most of them were deep in the wood and just smashed to h__l.   I really didn't expect to find any of them intact but I hoped to see one after it hit.
Rabbits don't stand a chance, ground squirrels I am working on, they are so fast and they move  t the littlest of sounds.  The biggest things we have around here are ground hogs, not too sure where that will go, first off I haven't seen one on the property yet and I am not sure how much power is needed to make the kill.
I'm work ing on 50 yards for good hits sometimes I miss a little but most are one pellet one kill situations.
This AM I got a rabbit, off on the aim though, or it moved as I pulled the trigger, I had to hunt the little F'r down, ended it for him but I don't like doing that, need more practice.
Picture is the Armada but I didn't get the scope.

Thanks for listening to an old guy rattle on, turns out his PCP Air Rifle is a great way to cut down on Rabbits and Ground Squirrels population !
Ltr all, Stay Safe !

p.s.   Not sure if I mentioned before, sucks getting old, I purchased a K-Bar, made from D2 Tool Steel, great for Chopping and other things along that line.  Sweet looking knife !
