I have read a lot about 1911s having all kinds of issues if they are ANYTHING but .45 cal. I don't personally own a 1911. My son has two, but both are .45. I don't know if there is any truth to that, but with 22K rounds through it, you probably know that gun well. Hope you figure out the issue!
