CMP is getting ready for the second 1911 lottery. I didn't bother with the first lottery as I knew the odds were low on getting a good working, historical, 1911 45ACP. The second round is open to those who did not get a chance in the first lottery or who has not purchased a 1911 on the auction site. The opening day is January 4, 2021 for those that are eligible to purchase a CMP weapon. I will be sending in my application for a 1911 this time. For about the same money I can purchase a new Colt 1911 Government model with a competition barrel and about 5 magazines. The CMP 1911's have been instantly worth 130-150% their purchase price for those that decided to re-sale them. As a reminder at this time it is a one time only purchase as you are out of the purchase pool for future sales. I honestly think they are overpriced but the open market price has them worth more than CMP is charging. I am willing to drop $1000 on a Field Grade as they are going for $1500 on Gun Broker. If I get one it will be a safe queen that will see little time at the range. Also the CMP has M1 Garands back in stock in limited numbers.
