That looks pretty much what i bought for my 92fs when i got it, some 10+ years ago, it works, but i'll tell you now i wouldn't carry with it. The retention strap will hold it in though.

Curious, what turns you off of this particular setup? The pistol is seated tightly, way deep inside with a sufficient retention strap.

I prefer the rigid feel of the plastic fitted holster.

I use this soft holster OWB when i'm private range-daying and just need more "attachment points"

My EDC is a full size Glock 37 in 45GAP. I have the Fugley IWB that I use in the warmer months. When it gets cool I will go with a Bianchi OWB or an Uncle Mike shoulder rig.

I do not like the kydex holsters. When I was in the military I had a shoulder rig or flapped nylon on the pistol belt. I preferred the shoulder rig.

My retro M16 barrel came in today. Looks great. Threaded on the muzzle device and crush washer by hand just to make sure it fits. I'll thread it back on and tighten when the rifle is assembled.

Went to the range yesterday. All the steel was down and people were still shooting at stuff. I had to wait til a guys gun jammed to go out hang some of the steel back up.

I shout some .30-06, some 5.56 and I even half assed got my Savage Axis .223 zeroed. The front scope mount got loose on me causing my zero to be all over. I'll have to lock-tite it and zero it again.

I must say though, I dislike that Savage Axis. The magazine is all plastic and hard to insert correctly. Even then, the bolt wont catch a new round unless you push in on the magazine. I got it for $199 so it's not horrible. I guess it'll be fun to shoot steel with. Oh, and it shot brass just fine. Didn't like steel cased ammo though, ever round of steel hung up in the breach. I had to wait a good 20 seconds for it to cool a bit and it popped right out.

It came with a cheap Bushnell scope, which actually seems pretty clear. I'm not one for cheap guns, but I wanted another bolt action just to have fun with. I painted it in Multi-cam pattern to make it look a little less cheap. It actually came out okay.

Here it is in front of my Remington 783.

The Remington 7 series are great guns. My 30-06 is the Model 78 that I got in the early 80's and it came with a cheap birch stock that I upgraded to a 700 BDL stock. I have made an 850 yard kill with it in Texas on a aoudad sheep hunt.

It sounds like the mag release on you Axis is adjusted too low or you have a bad mag. The Axis can be a bit finicky but they usually have tight chambers and are accurate. I have only shot the .308 Axis setting up a scope for my next door neighbor.

Alright, so I'm kind of stumped.

I have a $25 giftcard for Walmart, but I'm not sure exactly what I want to spend it on. It's going to be something gun related, I just haven't found the thing yet.

I considered magazines, but they don't have any 1911 magazines that are less than 30 bucks, I have enough beretta mags, and the only AR mags they have are Magpul Pmags; which I'm not too terribly interested in. I'm a USGI junkie, what can I say?

They only sell ammo in person now (for some reason), and I couldn't find any 9mm, 45, or .223 in a box small enough to fit within the card's limit, so that kills that quickly.

I have no need for ammo cans, and even if I did I buy those from my local milsurp shop which I greatly enjoy going to.

So, if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear it.

Hmm, cleaning stuff?

Otherwise, i'd say grab a pmag anyway, good backups for your USGI and honestly, they're really good.

I tried loading up some 6.8SPC this afternoon on my Dillon RL550B press. I spent an hour trying to get the powder measure to settle down. I only got 20 rounds loaded and all of them manually weighed. Very frustrating, the powder measure is usually very consistent but today it didn't drop the same load twice.

Then I thought about what has changed. I replaced the bulbs in the florescent light in my reloading shop. I have a Hornady electronic scale. The lights are screwing with the scale.

I pulled one of the loads I had apart and pulled out the triple beam - it was 2 grains off. I now get to pull apart the other 19 rounds as I am sure they are not right as well.

I will be hitting Home Depot for a LED light fixture tomorrow. Florescent and CFL emit frequencies that can screw with other electronics. Fun day - not.

Sheesh, wouldn't have imagined that.

Also, Costco is very good for nice LED fixtures right now, Feit electric units.

Sorry to hear that tsquare. Good to know though if I ever start reloading.

Some solvents or whatnot might not be a bad idea. I don't have a huge amount on hand.

Maybe give something new a try?

My favourites are for cleaning (only) MPro-7 cleaner (or Hoppe's Elite, same stuff, made by MPro-7)

Balistol has surprised me a fair amount, but i normally use things like that on milsurps along with Slip 2000 EWL - i use Seal1 on my modern stuff.

So far, my favorite cleaner is lighter fluid. A yellow bottle of Ronsonol (like what you fill a Zippo with) works well. Just liquefies gunk.

I may snag a magpul mag, as I have been wanting to give something magpul a try. If they have AK pmags I'll grab those with it, as I'll need some when I finally get my hands on an AK.

I have to say though..... Walmart's search engine sucks in a big way. Looking through gun accessories and I'm getting  ' 'inked' 'cosmopolitan' 'people' magazines. Wrong kind of magazine, guys!

If this were '95, I'd agree; but in this day and age where everything is run by computers, not to mention how much money they rake in annually, and then factor in their ads which will say "order online, pick up in-store with free site-to-store" or the like.... Yeah, there's no valid excuse for their site to be as bad as it is.

Oh absolutely not, but you're young enough to not know anything else, they're still dragging themselves into the 21st century.

On a different note, I was watching a video by the AK Operators Union, a followup on the C39V2 (which is crumbling like a dry cracker) when something caught my eye; a video talking about "Russian Tula Ammo Ban", also from the AKOU.

So off to Google I went, seeing if I could find anything about this. Well, long story short, I could find only (literally) a handful of recent threads talking about this. None of which seemed to produce any sort of citation, evidence, what-have-you.

Some have said they've called companies like wolf and tula asking about it, only to be told (in effect) "What are you talking about?".

Supposedly the ban, assuming it's real, isn't due to anything here in the US; rather something-something Russia, something-something sanctions.....

In fact, in my search, I found more 'steel cased ammo banned from ranges' threads and the like than the actual importation being limited. I did find a few talking about the same thing.....from 2012 or so.

I'd like to provide more detail than that, but I couldn't find much of anything in the way of actual information. If anyone has any, I'd love to read it.

Until then, I'll take 'Rumor' for $800 Alex.

Heh, yeah, I can't remember what it was now, but again it was something some insisted was a thing yet searching yielded nothing, no reports by anyone, anywhere.

Things that are technical bans, at the country to country level, don't tend to make it through though. They're soft bans or along the lines of, this irrelevant thing isn't koscher anymore, which means technically some other stuff stuff probably won't be possible.

Which of course turns into, omg dey banned duh fings!

Tula started a US company back some 25 or so years ago to handle import and distribution for their crap ammo. Tula was the state owned ammo and firearms manufacturer for the Soviet Union. Every communist controlled country had a weapons and ammo manufacturing plant that produced TulAmmo products.

The Russian ammo and surplus rifle ban happened during the obama administration. The ban was limited to Russia and the countries under their direct control. The other countries could still import that is why we still have ammo coming in. Wolf, Silver Wolf, Golden Wolf, Bear, Silver Bear, and Golden Bear are all Tula brands that are supposed to be better grades of ammo. It is re-boxed crap.

I have had 2 squibs with TulAmmo. I have tried their primers and had an 11% failure rate (I had 3 boxes - I used 2 and threw the other one away). The spent brass is also very soft and extremely difficult to reload and any hot loads will blow out the webbing and can damage the gun. I have run some of the TulAmmo brass through a chronograph and it is all over the place.

The lacquered, brass washed, and plain steel are very abusive to the throats, chambers, and extractors on rifles. The TulAmmo works best in weapons designed with loose tolerances like the AK, SKS, and CZ. Steel pistol cases also do a number on pistols as well.

Spend a dollar or two more on Remington White Box, Blazer, or Aguila. Also be aware that Perfecta is made by TulAmmo for S&B.

I don' buy tula products, but I know what it will do to the market if it is true. I only will buy steel for my WASR10 - whenever I buy it or IF I buy it. We'll see.

I did buy remington at one point, but since I won't buy anything remington as far as ammunition. The seating depth is all over the place on their .45s.

I buy aguila, fiocchi, geco, and some winchester. I got a box of browning as a gift, but I have yet to try it.

I just saw another thread about Tula on the the 1911 forum.:cheers

The two threads Wormwrapper list about the AK forum is a bit misleading. The NY Times article is throwing a scare out there that the TulAmmo loophole from countries that are no longer part of Russia could be closed shutting off TulAmmo's supply.

I didn't know you visited 1911 forum. The user 'nightwolf' that started that thread is me, if it wasn't obvious lol.

Yeah, I noticed those threads (one of which I had buzzed over once) didn't really tell me anything.
