Went to the range yesterday. All the steel was down and people were still shooting at stuff. I had to wait til a guys gun jammed to go out hang some of the steel back up. I shout some .30-06, some 5.56 and I even half assed got my Savage Axis .223 zeroed. The front scope mount got loose on me causing my zero to be all over. I'll have to lock-tite it and zero it again. I must say though, I dislike that Savage Axis. The magazine is all plastic and hard to insert correctly. Even then, the bolt wont catch a new round unless you push in on the magazine. I got it for $199 so it's not horrible. I guess it'll be fun to shoot steel with. Oh, and it shot brass just fine. Didn't like steel cased ammo though, ever round of steel hung up in the breach. I had to wait a good 20 seconds for it to cool a bit and it popped right out. It came with a cheap Bushnell scope, which actually seems pretty clear. I'm not one for cheap guns, but I wanted another bolt action just to have fun with. I painted it in Multi-cam pattern to make it look a little less cheap. It actually came out okay. Here it is in front of my Remington 783. ![]() Last edited on Sun Dec 31st, 2017 06:42 pm by RiggerWings ____________________ -John 2011 Ranger Sport 4x4, daily 2008 Mustang GT, garage queen 2013 Mazda CX5, grocery getter 2018 Harley Davidson Road Glide Special, the toy |
