It has a 15' paint job. As long as you are at least 15 feet away the paint looks good. The passenger side has the clearcoat pealing all the way down the truck. I did sand and paint the faces of my wheels prior to getting new rubber. That made a world of difference for looks. The "something about a short bed" is that the ride reminds you that you are in a truck. 

I have been spending at least 4 days a week paddling that kayak around Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee for exercise for the past few months. When the water level is up there are class three rapids on the Hooch.  My skillset with the rapids has improved to the point I am considering a trip to where there are class 4 rapids. I live 15 minutes from the dam here in NE ATL.

 I FINALLY started working on the 4.0 to 4.0 that allegedly runs swap, lots of bolts out, all 4 TC nuts off. I have like 6 bolts left, the ones behind the head that hold the ground strap and the trans dip stick tube, the 4 engine mount bolts and the 2 top bell housing bolts.

AND I found out why the starter always lagged. The ground wire was sticking in the frame instead of on the studbolt.

 So I finally got around to uploading a video of the noise my engine is making close to the end of a 5 minute drive. I can't find a clear answer after searching because they all point to different things. Maybe y'all can help out in identifying what it may be. I appreciate any help. Oh my truck is an 03 3.0 v6 2wd edge model.

 Sounds to me like you are losing oil to your upper end, cam or lifters or rockers. Your oil pressure could be just fine, there might be some sort of blockage. Sludge can cause blockage, block passages as it heats up and moves toward the flow.

I have never seen this before on a Ranger but saw it plenty on the 4.7 dodge V8, there was a 6 cyl based on that design I think it was 3.7 that did the same thing. Oil passages too small, a little sludge and BAM.

I'm sorry, you have to take it apart. I'm pretty sure you can take one valve cover off, take the rail off that holds the rockers and I bet money you will see substantial wear on the rocker or push rod.

If it doesn't do it at all when it is cold then it still might be able to be saved.

If you see no wear on the valve train then take the cover off for the timing chain and look at it.

Any way it goes, you need to get something to drive and take that one apart. Sorry for the bad news.

It only starts that after warming up. Do you think any of those bottles of cleaner or sea foam might help some of the stuff break loose? I'm only asking because I really don't want to tear down the engine again

I don't think I posted much in here about the tear down and I'd have to do some searching because I don't remember the numbers either. I do know it was part of a complete gasket kit for the 3.0

 Did a new positive battery terminal on the truck. 
Been having issues for quite awhile. The terminals I bought did not hold the wires properly. Ended up getting 2 gauge eyelets, crimping them on, then using a standard post with a wing nut style spot for the eyelets. Then hooked my accessory lights to that. 

Does great now. 

Had to pop start it too. Truck has been sitting for 3 weeks.. 
(I am sorry baby) 

Battery is only a year old (1/19) so. Was putting out 12.7 volts with the multi-meter. Still healthy.

 I'm leaning toward a couple of those terminals the big power sound system people use. Buggman sells a few different types, they have to be better than the strap style we have stock on our little trucks.

Even a new battery can become a bad battery if you let it sit for too long. Batteries like to be "used". After destroying one that was virtually new I bought a trickle charger (battery tender, called by several other names.)

I have been around motorcycles since I could walk. 

Those you absolutely HAVE to leave a trickle charger on. If not, the battery goes buh bye. 

They are such small batteries, they go quick. :)

The best idea on the starter is to run an additional Ground Wire, 4 ga or larger, from the negative side of the battery, directly to one of the mounting bolts for the starter.  You could run it from the frame battery ground too.    Starter gets a direct current line without all the dirt, corrosion, and the path through the engine block, not to mention the size of the the OEM ground wire.

Add one to the alternator while you are at it.

 It had one to the starter it was never reconnected after the starter was replaced by the previous owner. All the power for the starter was being drawn from a braided cable attached to the firewall and to the back of driver side head. I'm amazed there wasn't more trouble. I just thought the starter was going out and waiting till it did. The engine gave out first.

6/25/2020 Milestone met. Half a million miles on my 2002 XLT 4X4 4.0L original engine. Ex company truck that was new with 80 miles on it when I took possession. On synthetic since day one changed out every 7,500 miles. It was off the Kelly BB charts on mileage when I bought it for $800.00 and I knew the service history.

 The rental place wanted too much for two sets of scaffolds. I am replacing second floor windows and have maxed out my budget. I now have a motorized scaffold with a 400 pound limit. It is just the right height to take the security lamp off the wall in between the garage doors when I moved to the last window.

It is a good thing OSHA doesn't check residential areas.

 Nothing fancy, just washed it and scrubbed the wheels.  I like these wheels, but they need a good SOS pad scrubbing from time to time to look good.

The windows are done. All tools have been put up and the ladder rack is over by the kayak in storage. I am glad to have the truck back to more than a mobile scaffold. BTW:  It worked but I do not want to do that again.

Rant on: The windows on the main floor are not a standard size. The windows on the front are 1 inch taller and they are the ones I measured for the special order windows. The windows in the picture I had to route out a half inch of wood at the top and bottom to get them to fit.  That caused other issues that had to be addressed. This should have been a simple remove and replace that took no more than 2 days and it has been a week and a half.

 The wife got a quote of just over $13,000 to replace all of the windows. I have replace all of the windows on the main floor except for a triple that I am going to need help with. I have one window  on the second floor, in the foyer that I will need professionally replaced. I will end up saving $6,000-7,000 doing the work myself. I have already noticed the AC doesn't need to work as hard to keep it cool so I am anticipating a lower power bill this summer.

 I need to replace all my windows as well.  Won't happen this year, as I have been reworking the outside of the house (new porch columns, garage door and opening rework, repaint EVERYTHING) along with a lot of pressure washing.  I have a dining room full of paint, flooring, countertops, cabinet, microwave, switches, receptacles, lights, etc. for a complete kitchen makeover.  Decided to replace the range and dishwasher to match the new stainless steel refrigerator.  As soon as I have the outside done, I will start on the kitchen.  LOTS of $$$ spent.

Since this thread is supposed to be about "What did you do to your Ranger today", I used the Ranger to haul all the supplies it took to do these renovations.  Truck performed this task flawlessly several times and didn't complain a bit! ;-)

Do you know the pressure rating for the unit ?

I am looking at them now and was just wondering what you have and how it was working out ?

AND as to Rangers... I will be picking it up with a Ranger and washing the undercarriage of it !
