Here is where I will post the continuing repairs & upgrades on my 2000 Ranger 4x4. My latest saga is a p/s leak that I have traced to a seam on the p/s cooler tube that is mounted on the bolts that mount the steering rack to the frame. While doing some research I came across a post on a Explorer/Ranger forum that stated the person used a aftermarket p/s cooler from Advance Auto Parts. So today after work I stopped at the local Advance Auto Parts & purchased the p/s cooler by a company called Imperial part #-241009 which just so happens to be the exact same size as the one that came out of my Ranger except the tubes are a little shorter, but I have an idea on how to get around that. I just have to make a couple mounting brackets since the brackets on the factory p/s cooler are part of the cooler assembly. A "how to" will follow. I cut the tubes off the old p/s cooler so I could remove the mounting brackets so I could fabricate a couple new brackets.
New p/s cooler top, old p/s cooler bottom.

Mounting brackets off old p/s cooler.

Today after work once the sun came out the temp went into the upper 50's so I decided to try to get the Ranger p/s leak fixed. I fabbed a new p/s cooler mounting bracket from some sheet steel that I had because the old brackets are part of the factory p/s cooler. Installed the new aftermarket p/s cooler, & the new mounting bracket, filled it with fluid, started it & checked it for leaks. I used brake clean & cleaned off the p/s fluid that was all over the frame, & the steering rack.

Thanks 1qaz.  Yesterday I installed a Westin light bar #-30-0005 using the install kit #-30-1055.

Today I removed the drivers side front bucket seat & added some foam to the lower part of the seat.

Today I replaced the antenna lead/cable from the antenna base to the radio (wow what a pain in the butt). Radio stations come in a lot better now. To replace the antenna lead I cut the end that off that plugged into the radio since it was messed up anyway, stripped back some of the outer covering so all that was left was the plastic inner liner & the metal wire & slipped the plastic part into the end of the replacement antenna lead that would plug into the antenna base & duct tapped them together. Then with a long thin screw driver going through the antenna hole in the cowl I popped out the rubber grommet in the firewall & cut it off the old antenna lead. Then taking my time I just fed the replacement antenna lead through the firewall while slowly pulling the old antenna lead out of the hole in the cowl until the replacement antenna lead was into the cowl. I also installed a radio interface that has a audio input, usb port, & the on/off switch that controls the interface. I removed the ash tray assembly & made a face plate to cover the cubbie opening where I installed the usb port, audio input port, & the on/off switch. Here is what it looks like.

The Ford antennea wiring is a real jumbled mess of adapters and plugs and BS if you ask me LOL
They use different cables for different radios and trucks with rear audio controls have a whole separate adapter.... Nice work improving your setup, they can be a real PITA

The antenna lead on my 2000 Ranger with the AM/FM, Cassette, single CD radio was a one piece lead from the antenna base to the radio.

Nice, I dig adding accessories and making them look like they were born there!

Thanks Jim, that is why I used the Explorer radio trim panel when I added the aux lights so I could add a factory switch (thanks to buggman) for the lights in the spot where the rear defroster switch was on the Explorer, so it would look factory.

A couple weeks ago the metal brake line to the r/s front caliper rusted out. I had some of the NiCopp brake line left over from when I replaced the brake line to the rear axle. I installed the fitting that goes to the brake hose to the caliper & re-used the fitting at the 4WABS motor, installing it on the line, made the flares, & Installed the line. Today I installed the new r/s front brake hose & the r/s front brake caliper. Tomorrow I will install the l/s front caliper, then bleed the brakes.

Anything else is not an option :) If you have one, you have to drive it.

I'll tell you. As much as I like driving it, I almost die every time I park it, and drive the mustang a while. I get back in the ranger and ultimately take a corner way to hot.

Today it is 44° & sunny so I decided to install the new 06+ tail light housings to replace the cracked, broken, & faded old ones. I used Jamie's (410customs) idea to trim one of the locking tabs off the back up light socket so it would fit the new housings. The 2000 b/u light socket has 3 locking tabs, & the newer housings only have 2. Worked great.

Old ones,

New ones,

I've been waiting to see a shot of that awesome looking ranger from the rear. Tailight upgrade looks great. Time to take a heat gun to the 4x4 decal and add the newer FX4 level II decal!!!

You and black06xlt have the nicest looking interiors!!! Really appreciate you sharing pics

Thanks for the kind words about my Ranger. Here is another shot of the interior showing the bucket seats & the shorty console.

Here is one of the dashboard,

I fixed my exhaust leak between the front of the cat converter & the "Y" pipe. I installed a Walker universal ball flange #- 41723 on the rear of the cat converter & then hooked the new exhaust system to it & ran it out back with a new chrome tip. I used a Dynomax system #-39315 that I purchased from Rockauto.com.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-41723
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=2598492&cc=1362798&jsn=569

I also replaced the O2 sensor in the rear pipe of the cat converter when I had the converter out, since I already had the sensor.
