Tonight was a lovely night. I was out for a night run with my truck, and something ran out in front of me. That something was.... A deer! Great. First and foremost, I'm OK. Hardly rattled me beyond the initial surprise.
My header panel, valance, and grill are all toasted. Turn signal fixture might be OK, don't know and won't know until I take it apart. One fog light is toasted too. The bumper kinda looks bent, but at 1:30 in the morning I'm not exactly inclined to see if it's actually bent or not.
Besides not hitting the deer at all, my only wish is that the hit killed him outright. I didn't enjoy seeing him there twitching in pain, but was thankful I was able to mercifully end his suffering.
So, I'll need a new grill, header panel and valance, plus a fog light. Maybe a bumper, maybe a new turnsignal housing. Other than that, my hood and fenders are all fine, still completely drivable. Just a little dorky looking at the moment....
I'll post pictures later if anyone is interested. So, use my unfortunate turn of events as a gentle reminder of how quickly things can turn south.....
Stay safe, guys.
