Welcome wije, we usually answer sooner but since we are primarily USA based we don't have the honor of purchasing a new Ranger.... yet. Hard to help with a decision!
However a twin turbo 2 liter sounds like it would be an awesome upgrade coupled with a 10 speed, it probably has a 10 speed for a reason I bet the power range of that 2L is pretty narrow a 10 speed would keep the drive train on top of the power band.
My wife has a CRV with a single turbo 1.5L and it would take my 4.0 Ranger after about the first 50 feet no problem.
Wonder why they didn't go CVT for the ranger?
Likely because the CVT has high heat issues which would likely land the Ranger in warranty aisles across the globe with failed trans issues.. much like Nissan cars have had among others. Not saying it couldnt be done, just maybe Ford does know its customers better than thought. lol

Is it possible the Ranger you're talking about is the "Ranger Raptor"? If so...IT LOOKS AWESOME. I just looked it up, and the twin turbo 2.0 is a diesel, which makes it that much better for off-road....torque at low rpms, 6 available driving modes...couldnt really get much better than that. And yes, there is a 4low in the rock crawling mode.

The Ranger Raptor is slated to first and so far ONLY be released in Thailand for some reason. Apparently the dung-heads in Fords Marketing division bumped their heads while under the desk of their superiors and came up with some stupid conclusion that the US market wouldnt-like it.. !
Sometimes.. depopulation theories start to make more sense some days.......
