Mmmmmeat popsicle...

"What has been seen cannot be unseen and now that we've peeked behind the curtain of the beloved McRib sandwich, perhaps we should delve further into this terrifying Frankenmeat to discover the truth behind the oddly-compelling pale pink dish sponge meat patty. Here, grab a bedpan."

"McDonald's keeps suspiciously vague regarding the patty meat, claiming it's a wholesome combination of "pork, water, salt, dextrose and three kinds of preservatives: BHA, Propyl Gallate, Citric Acid. BHA, or butylated hydroxyanisole, a fat preservative, "may contribute to carcinogenicity or tumorigenicity" and can also lead to changes in behavior. Propyl gallate also has carcinogenic properties and can have damaging effects on the stomach, skin, respiratory system, kidney and liver; it's banned in other countries.
Besides the gnarly chemicals, what kind of cuts go into forming this "pork" patty? According to a dispatch from Maxim, there is "very little actual rib meat in a McRib." "Primarily, it's shoulder meat," Rob Cannell, director of McDonald's U.S. supply chain, explained to the magazine. That sounds promising; pork shoulder can be used to make delicious pulled pork sandwiches. But according to a University of Nebraska study, you're really eating restructured pig innards coated in salt, specifically tripe, heart, and scalded stomachs. Offal has become trendy thanks to the nose-to-tail movement and, to be sure, folks in countries like Mexico and Italy have no problem devouring things like tripe without a second thought." :puke

Just helpful to know exactly what you're consuming, is all... :coffee

Hmmm.. Frozen McRib... Hmm....

No different then "Pink Slime" chicken nuggets most kids eat everyday, usually prepared by their local school. Stuff like this is a very common in processed food. If stuff like this bothers you, you probably should stay away from most fast food and processed food...

Sorry and Yea.. I know and generally do lol I gave up on processed foods as much as I could, try to grill or BBQ as much as I can and in recent years find myself just eating more different in the sense of better anyhow.

Besides noticing differences in habits and weight, giant difference in attitude oddly.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not one of THOSE people.. I'm down to chow down on a great Chicago deep dish pizza, Popeye's spicy Chicken, or hit a Chinese Buffet a time or two a month but I generally eat clean. To me though, I havent given McDeaths my money in some time.

What I need to do his hit the weights a bit harder again and get back out to the range.

I totally understand where your coming from.
When I had the retail store, I had a bad habit of drinknig soda all day long. Like 10-12 cans daily.. Switching to water made a huge difference in how I felt, including like you noted, my attitude.
I typically do not eat McD, but there is something about McRibs that I do tend to get 2 to 3 of them when they are avail. It must be all the drugs they mix into the meat...
AM/PM has a pork sandwich that looks like McRib, but it defiantly is not the same...

There is NO way a McRib will ever pass my lips willingly. Actually, I rarely eat at McD... only when the wife gets a crave for it and I am with her. There is just nothing good about it IMHO.

I'll never quite understand why people will praise Mcdonalds when they can go to the outback, chilis or (my favorite) Culvers and get a real honest-to-God burger; not just some formed thing called a burger.

But that's none of my business. :coffee

The simple answer is price. People can go to McD and get 2 small burgers for $2.50 vs 1 burger for $10 with tip at the places you mentioned. Honestly that's about the only reason I've ever got one. I wanted something fast and cheap.

good for you..! Seriously, I had a similar issue. I think from about age 17-18 Mt. Dew was the drug of choice up until my early 30's. Literally I drank in excess of about three 2L a day myself. Plus the occasional Sweet tea from tradewinds.. you know the one..
So far been Soda free since 2005'ish with only the occasional theres nothing else here to drink while being out... But a can of soda every 4-6 months didnt make me fall of the wagon per say but you do bring up a valuable point too - Its a KNOWN FACT that there are additives and chemicals that MAKE you crave more of it and Soda is definitely one of those along with Fast Food.

What really set my mind in it was I noticed that with fast food or even just   comfort foods, I'd be hungry 2 hrs later for NO reason at all. Make and eat a home cooked meal or grill up some grub for a few days of meals and I could easily go 4-5 hours or until the next meal time without junking out if you will.

But admittingly, When I did go to McD's id always get 2 McDbls; NO mustard, NO ketchup, EXTRA pickles, ADD Mac Sauce.. BAM $1.79 Big Macs without the middle pc of bread !!! ;)

$5.79 Hamburger my ASS ! :verymad

Another processed product, in this case pork that is stamped/pressed to look like what some may perceive to be, ribs. Truth be told, this *rib* isn't even a rib nor is it made from rib meat, AND to reinforce that most processed food is not good for you, this one is bloated with salt. Don't forget that high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in the sauce but if people eat enough it eventually messes with their metabolism and makes them fatties. We can thank the US gov't and their subsidizing corn farmers for this one.

Fraud is usually perpetrated on unknowing victims.

The fast food industry just takes advantage of people's laziness - if everyone cooked themselves from basic ingredients, the McDs of this world would be out of business.

But most people would rather pay for the convenience...

Not at all a matter of fraud and more an issue of consumer ignorance and/or don't care. After all, McGross isn't concealing nor trying to hide just how sh*tty the product actually is as evidenced by what's in it and that it's processed trash but rather, they're just delivering to people what they are willing to pay for. That's what business need to do in hope of turning a profit, growing earnings, and staying afloat; I'd worry about a business NOT doing this.

In the old days when a village slaughtered an animal, every last bit of it was eaten or used - today's society wastes a great deal, supermarkets throw away huge amounts of "out of date" food that is perfectly edible.

I suppose McDs is doing no more than taking what would otherwise have been rejected by the public and turning it into something they crave - good luck to them and it is a great business model, buy cheap and sell at a good profit.

However, it is not good for the nation's health and is costing us all in medical expenses eventually but it is their choice and I will defend their right to kill themselves off by eating it....;)
