GA has a 5 year renewable permit. Once the initial background check has been completed they are supposed to do a yearly background check but they rarely follow through. I have had a permit since I was 18. They bumped the age requirement to 21 sometime in the 80's. About 15 years ago they switched from a laminate card that had your trigger finger print to a laser etched plastic card with a photo and personal data on a chip.

GA is also one of the few states that does not require any classes for a carry permit. All you need is the $70 and to be able to pass the background check.

I have also had an Out-of-state Florida CCP for a number of years (expired 4 years ago). There was a class required unless you were prior military. With both the FL and GA permits I could legally carry in 43 of the states. I have been hoping Trump would fix this.

It cost me just shy of $150 to get my permit.  Fee to state for background check and the license, separate fee to fingerprint verification service, and finally, $50 to the county sheriff (and all they do is take your money... no paperwork at all).  All that just so I can exercise my 2nd amendment rights...

I the past, I never felt I needed to carry.  The world is fast becoming a VERY dangerous place.  So my son carries, I carry, and my wife is going to get her permit when CoronaBS lightens up.  On July 1st., Indiana is supposed to drop the State and fingerprint fee requirement, so it will be less expensive after that.  I think Constitutional Carry should be across the board.

The Out-of-state FL CCP was an initial of about $100 and a $30 renewal fee. The initial was to cover the in depth background check and finger printing by the sheriff's dept. The last renewal it was an electronic fingerprinting at the Probate Court office. GA does the same for fingerprinting.

I did hear back from the courthouse. They sent me a link that takes you to a round robbin of links on renewal that only gives you 2/3 of the paperwork. I ended up calling them for an appointment but they insist it is mail in only and are going to send me the paperwork. They also require a certified check. They make it as hard as possible to renew. That is why I let the FL CCP go - I couldn't jump through the hoops in a timely manor. The next time I go down to FL for more than a week I will start it all over again.

I've been doing some Plinking and Rabbit/Squirrel Shooting over the last month, using my Gamo Bone Collector Pellet, .22 cal, Rifle, mod'd Gas Cylinder and Trigger, and alignment.  Never used it much, had it for about 6 years, getting interesting.

My score is a lot of debris and about 15 Rabbits, 1 Squirrel; I don't eat them but they a major nuance, so the Coyotes get to eat.

I'm enjoying the shooting, miss the .223, but no worries when using the Pellet Rifle around the house.

Got a Rabbit this AM, clean one pellet kill to the head, just in front of the ear and low to the head, I'm improving !

Anyone else use a Pellet Rifle, interested in aftermarket sights but Gamo doesn't make them for this Rifle.

I own a pellet rifle.  Had it about 12 years or more.  Pulled the trigger on it once.

Scrambler82, is it possible to tap and drill some holes for a Remington 700 style mount? Or is there a dovetail mount for the open sights?

I have added Weaver rails and did the drill/tap to get rings on rifles to get a scope mounted. There is always the chance of screwing up but I have been lucky. I know my limitations - I have a Glock 20 slide out for a RMR cut right now. The G20SF will be getting a Holosun 407 red dot. The timing for this is all wrong...

I think I pulled the trigger very few times in years past, never had a reason to, but here in SoCal, this year especially, we are in RABBIT SEASON +++ !

The trigger is getting a workout out this year... 2020 raises again !

I am hoping that rear section can be drilled, just need a little gold ball on the barrel.

I was thinking the Ruger 22 rear sight, the front is really up in the air.

I need to talk to the local Gunsmith, "Ask and you shall receive", the Gunsmith is a decent guy, tells it like it is, and doesn't charge an arm and a leg to get things done... like most businesses in SoCal !

Hoping for a trip tooth Gunsmith tomorrow !

The Weaver Rail would work if it wasn't so high; I'm looking at the Light Bar type too.

So there is not any optics on it? If so I would drill and tap to mount a picatiny rail and put an inexpensive red dot on it.

The Rifle came with a scope... I didn't like it the first time I tried it and tried to get use to it, no go !
This scope although on the lower end of scope, it had 1-9 mag, windage and elevation adjustment, and another knob but I am not sure what it does,, I need to read on it.   I did find out this scope has red and green cross hairs... didn't know, but I'm thinking the battery has gone bad by now and the scope won't be any good for anything.

I have been shooting the rifle without any sights, no optic, no nothing, and having decent results but I want some iron sights.

This AM, I reinstalled the Scope that came with the Pellet Rifle, missed three rabbits and one squirrel, took it off for the last time and will head to the Gun Store to see the Gunsmith !
I do have a picatiny railto mount the scope but it is a little higher than I'm thinking is good, I will bring it with me and see what the Gunsmith says.

I missed three BIG rabbits using the scope, haven't seen that size rabbits in a while, I saw some dust come off of one, thought I hit it but it took off, I couldn't find it to finish the job, just in case I did hit it, so I'm good with it.

Off to the Gun Store or Is that "The Candy Store" !  LoL !

With a picatiny rail the options for sights are almost endless.  For a pellet gun that opens up the optics used on paintball markers and Air Soft guns.

I like the red dot I have on my AR-9 pistol. It is a Vism made by NcStar. I have a few others I have used others and the Vism is the best one I have. It is also the most expensive of my red dots.  For quick target acquisition the holographic sights are hard to beat. A simple reflex 1-4x20 traditional scope designed for a 22LR would work well.

Went to the Gun Store, no Gunsmith on Site.

One day a week he shows up, drops off and picks up.

I asked how I fins out about a possible repair, the clerk says to leave the gun, the Smith will take it and call in what the cost will be.

If I don't want him to do it there is a $45 charge for the quote.

OK so I back to looking for a Gunsmith in my area to get the Sights done.

Scopes in General, IMHO... I do not like them.   In the range I am shooting this Pellet Rifle, target acquisition is too slow.  It is probably just me but I have trouble finding the target in the scope after I see it without the scope.
So no scope for the Pellet Rifle.

I may have to do it myself !

Nice!  Have you had a chance to pull the trigger on live rounds with them yet?

Yup! just today:

Put about 50 rounds through each, Was trying to figure out if I was going to replace the LCP with the Taurus. The answer is yes. The LCP is just not a good fit for my hand. I REALLY like the Canik... really nice gun, especially when you factor in price.

I was going to specifically ask about the Canik.  I have heard and read that they make a really good handgun.

I haven't been out shooting for MONTHS.  :-(  Problem around here is that there are few good places to shoot (this is the 3rd largest city in Indiana... WHY are there no public ranges?).  So the only options are to travel to a neighboring county or take your chances at old mine property (and that is illegal).  I am fixing that today.  I applied for, and was accepted to become a member of the West Side Sportman's Club.  Beautiful place with several range areas, archery, fishing and such.  They have IDPA events at least once per month and sponsor training classes along with a host of other activities.  I go for my new member orientation today at 4:00pm!  Nice thing is: it is between my home and where I work, so I can stop by on my way home and pull the trigger on a few rounds anytime I want to! YAY!!!  My son, ArcticWolf1911, sent in his application a couple of weeks after I did, so hopefully he will be offered a membership as well.  They normally do the new member thing in January-February, but COVID-19 delayed that and I got in WAY sooner.  For once, CORONA for the WIN! :-)

I have only had it 2 days and put 50 rounds through it, but so far I really like it. Feels like a really solid firearm. It's also a solid value, Paid $350 for it shipped on gun broker, with that you get the gun, with good sights, case, holster, two 18 round mags, a speed loader, cleaning tools, 2nd back strap, etc.

That's about the going rate on a TP9SF, there are other models, like the TP9SFX which is their competition gun. It goes for north of $500 easy, and they have a sub compact, but those go quick.

I may have to pick one up sometime, in 9mm.  Based on the pics you posted, you are running .45.  Nothing against .45, I just like cheap ammo ;-)

The only .45 there is my 1911. I don't think Canik makes anything in any caliber but 9mm, and the taurus is also 9mm. the little purple gun is a .380 acp. (I actually sold it right after this trip to the range). it was one of my motivations was to get something a bit cheaper to shoot with higher capacity than my 1911 for when I do competition shooting.

Ah, my bad.  Saw the boxes of .45 and .380, assumed the little purple gun was the .380, and of course, incorrectly assumed the Canik was .45 also.

Nah, it was just super windy, so I threw away the 9mm box. I actually did a whole write up on my day:

So I went to the range for the first time today in probably 8 or 9 months. Normally I shoot in the desert, but we're under a fire ban.

The reason for going to the range? To try out my two new 9mm guns, [a Canik TP9SF and Taurus G2C](https://i.redd.it/lzt69xh6sj451.jpg)!

For a long time my two main carry guns were my RIA Rock Standard FS in .45, and my Ruger LCP in purple. My RIA was for a long time my only hand gun in something other than .22LR, so it made it my default carry gun. I love it, but being the fluffy man I am, I don't find it comfortable to carry concealed so I wear it open, [in a bright green leather holster I made](https://i.redd.it/chal5e6axyz41.jpg). But then I started riding public transportation to and from work. Within my first week, somebody tried to rob me. So I knee jerked purchased an [LCP](https://i.imgur.com/LJzLAyH.jpg). Why an LCP? Because I could conceal it on the bus, while I ride my electric skateboard, and at work where there are big “no guns allowed” signs. Everywhere. And while I want to have a gun on me, I don't want to get fired. I could wear it on me reasonably comfortable iwb all day or sneak it into my backpack pretty easily. However. Every time I took it to the range, I was disappointed in it. It almost hurts to shoot for more than a mag or two, I don't have very big hands, but it is so small I can never get a comfortable grip on it. And accuracy? Abysmal we'll get to that in a bit.

So I have been shopping a new gun for concealed carry, I also want to shoot more competition stuff. But found shooting a .45 in them was 1) expensive, 2) frustrating with only 8 round mags, and 3) a bit hard on my wrists after a long night shooting a couple hundred rounds (my accuracy would start to suffer big time). 9mm for both of these just made sense. Since I could have one ammo for both, increase capacity In both a concealed carry as well as a competition gun, spend less money overall in ammo, and have something more accurate to boot.

After shopping for a while I narrowed my search down to two:Taurus G2C and a Canik TP9FS. Both feel like great value for the money based off features, and the fact that they are so inexpensive. I was looking at a few others, but after some feedback from here, and other places (youtube) I went with these two.

[So went](https://i.imgur.com/F13sfJd.jpg) with [all 4 guns to the range](https://i.imgur.com/r6RuNZj.jpg). OH boy was it busy, normally in the summer after lunch time, here in AZ, the range is dead. It's 110 degrees, windy, dry, dusty, and nobody is at the range. there is even a forest fire not too far away, But due to covid, they are only using every other bench, and because of covid, and riots, there are a TON of new shooters out at the range for the first time. I don't think I've seen it that busy. I didn't shoot as much as I originally planned. There just wasn't time, or space. I left early so that somebody who showed up after me could get a chance to shoot before they shut down for the day. I also lost one of my targets to the wind, but that didn't matter one bit. I brought 4 targets for 4 guns. After losing one, I had a decision to make, which guns were I going to test accuracy with? I decided my new Taurus, The Canik, and my LCP. I started off with my LCP, shot at the lower target 12 times. 12 stinking times. How may do you think hit the target from 11 yards? If you guess is anything more than 0, your guess is wrong. That is right, from 11 yards, I didn't hit the target once. I gave up trying and decided to try out the other three guns I brought with me on pristine un-touched targets.

[Here are my results](https://i.imgur.com/YIfqYPn.jpg) from the first mag in each gun.

As you can see, I'm a pretty terrible shot. Upper left is my .45, upper right is the Canik with it's 18 shot mag, and the bottom is the Taurus, with it's 12 shot.

[Here is the results](https://i.imgur.com/hVr8fkV.jpg) from the 2nd mag

I had put a couple of rounds through each gun before I was able to set up my targets. I got there right at the end of the cease fire, so the target you see behind my yellow ones was already up, and I shot at for a bit before we hit a cease fire and I could put up targets I could see. (it was out at 50 yards, and I had to bring it in).

Thoughts on each gun:

LCP – This gun I think is more effective as simply existing as a gun than actually being a gun if that makes sense. The fact that I have a gun vs not having a gun at all will mean something if I ever have to pull it, but I better bet not much more than arms reach from the person I pull it on, if I ever hope to hit them. I'll do some more work with it to figure out where my point of aim is at, and improve it. Maybe. I kinda regret owning it, except, if my work ever requires me to start coming into work again (been wfh since march, and they haven't even hinted at us coming back in yet) I'll need something to carry to work still. It's biggest benefit is being purple. My favorite color. Of the 4 mags I've put through it today, I had one failure to eject. I have a feeling that was because of poor grip on my end.

RIA 1911 – what can I say, it's a 1911, the trigger is amazing, I've had it well over a year now, 1500+ rounds without an issue. I love shooting it, I put 7 or 8 mags worth of bullets through it today. That's about all I would want to, especially with all the other shooting I did today.

Taurus G2C – when I bought it, I was expecting it to feel smaller in the hand. But it feels good. It's about right for me with the mag in it. 12 shots doubles the capacity over the lcp, and despite being a more powerful round, has far less felt recoil, and far more accurate. The trigger is pretty long, the break is meh, but I feel like with some more practice, I can get pretty accurate with it. Sights are very usable and easy to get back on target with. I haven't looked into upgrading the trigger, but that is probably on the list down the road. Put 4 mags worth of rounds through it, 0 issues. Came with two 12 round mags. Paid

Wow!  At 11 yards, the LCP never hit the target ONCE?  Dang man, that *IS* abysmal.  Have you considered having it looked at by a gunsmith?  Even a first-time shooter should be able to hit the paper at 11 yards with most of the rounds.  Based on your targets posted on Imgur, you are a decent marksman.

I'm a terrible shot, but now that I will have a place to practice, I intend to get better.  My biggest problem is holster draw to trigger pull.  I struggle to get a good, firm and proper grip coming out of the holster.  I'm am just "okay" when I simply aim and fire.
