GA has a 5 year renewable permit. Once the initial background check has been completed they are supposed to do a yearly background check but they rarely follow through. I have had a permit since I was 18. They bumped the age requirement to 21 sometime in the 80's. About 15 years ago they switched from a laminate card that had your trigger finger print to a laser etched plastic card with a photo and personal data on a chip. GA is also one of the few states that does not require any classes for a carry permit. All you need is the $70 and to be able to pass the background check. I have also had an Out-of-state Florida CCP for a number of years (expired 4 years ago). There was a class required unless you were prior military. With both the FL and GA permits I could legally carry in 43 of the states. I have been hoping Trump would fix this.
