Ford has put a lot of effort in their OEM Installed Radios, not sure who makes them but I think Philco in years past.
Probably the company has been absorbed by now.
I have always thought Ford OEM Radios sound incredible, all they needed was a good base, and maybe more speakers.
I used the 6-CD in my Ranger EDGE for a long time, then added an adapter to plug in my iPods, then iPhones, never did try an iPad... LoL; but when I put the Digital Input in place... Man-O-Man did that CD-6 Radio come alive. I also found set of Pioneer Speakers from an Explorer, came with all the fixings, an amp, wiring, etc, and what a system Ford/Pioneer put together, everything plugs in... what's that... Plug and Play ! The 20-Pin Connector behind the CD-6 Ford Radio works for a lot of things... Aux. CD player, Amp Input, Digital Interface for Apple Devices... etc, etc !
I now run a Alpine, LX-207, no mechanical inside, I still need to do some adjusting but it sounds kind of tinny, not that quality sound from the OEM FORD Unit.
If I didn't want the Apple Play and the Apps usage, like Waze, I would have stayed with a Ford Head Unit.
Would be nice to find a new CD-6 with all the Apps Stuff.

p.s. I do have a high end (back in the 1990s) Pioneer Head Unit, new in the box, never installed. I got a great deal on it, have always thought highly of Pioneer, but if it only had the Apps thing. I need to pull it out and determine what I good price would be, need to start dumping things.
p.p.s. What about the Fog Light, are you thinking OEM Switching ?
This EDGE, came with OEM Fog, I did the Fog Light Mod to keep the Fogs on with both his and lows and it makes a big difference on both beam levels. I took the Fog off to mount a new front bumper and never added them back.
Recently I got a set of LED, not projectors, not installed but when I hooked them to a battery the light output was poor at best. I am looking for LED Projector Fogs now, will see how that turns out.Last edited on Sat Apr 3rd, 2021 10:21 am by Scrambler82
