While I am doing other stuff I am going to replace the bed bolts and clips.

Found them online. Problem is they don't specify length. I have the following part numbers/links.

Does anyone know which one is which? IE: Which one is the longer bolts that are attached at the front of the bed near the cab? Those are the two I really need to replace as mine were very rusty.

On Tasca Ford they have pictures of the bolts but I can't tell for the life of me which one appears to be slightly longer (by about an inch)

I replaced all the bolts and clips on my '02 with this kit.
It comes with 2 longer bolts.

Really want to stick with OEM on this. I know it's more money but it's worth it to me rather on something like this..lol

I'm going to call another dealer in the morning. The first one I called were clueless and no help at all. I don't understand why Ford wouldn't post a length on the bolts via the part number or to make it stand out. I just don't want to order the wrong amount of one bolt..lol

The dealers should be able to state quantity required on them, at least from that Dorman kit, you can see how many of each.
Sizes are 100mm and 120mm - i would say it's the more expensive ones you want.

I'm avoiding LMC. They are not OEM bolts. I've seen them. They look like the Dorman stuff. Other things I've ordered from them for the front grill via bolts that they stated were OEM, were not and have rusted compared to the oem bolts that are 17 years old which haven't..lol

Calling another dealer in the morning and hoping that they can tell me which is which. Worst case scenario now I guess I just order on a guess and hope for the best. 50/50 chance of getting it right.

I'll second that. I copied those numbers down in a text file in my Truck Info for future use. I've seen too many members on various forums that had to remove the bed for a variety of reasons.

Can't help you on inches.. Why we haven't moved to the metric system yet here is beyond me... Every other country in the world uses metric why America doesn't is so frustrating.

The size of the bolts though:
12m x 1.75 x 120 mm
12m x 1.75 x 100 mm

The closest imperial sizes would be:

1/2" x 5/8" x 4 3/4"
1/2" x 5/8" x 4"

I too, wonder why the US hasn't converted to the metric system. Although at 62 years old, that would just suck for me... been doing inches, feet, pounds, gallons, etc. all my life.

True. I just posted those sizes in the event somebody wants to buy cheap, standard bolts and nuts. If they decide to go that route, I would highly recommend grade 8 fine thread and nuts with nylon locking.

When I pulled my bed all of the bolts were rusty. I took them over to my wirbrush wheel and knocked all of the surface rust off. I covered the threads and hit the tops of the bolts with some cold galvanize. I have a silver truck so it matched somewhat.

I ran a well lubed 12m x 1.75 tap through each of the mounting holes, cleaned them with brake cleaner, and smeared the first couple of threads with anti-sieze. When the bed was dropped back on the bolts all screwed in by hand and then I step torqued them to 40 ft/lb, then 55 ft/lb, and finally at 69 ft/lb.

I agree in Grade 8 bolts but Ford has a problem with price gouging on small parts.

The Metric System, yes we are behind the other countries BUT I am in no rush to change over !

Cold Galvanizing is no more than a can of galvanizing material that is applied by brush or roller.
It is designed to bond to the raw, clean, metal ! Is it as good as the Hot Dipped stuff, I have never seen any test performed to see but some say it works great, others are totally against it !

To me... if at all possible use Hot Dip but in a pinch use the Cold stuff, better than nothing !

... WAIT... can you smell the wood burning..., "What if, you heat up the Cold Stuff and make it Hot Dip", wonder what the temp ranges are for non-cured Cold Galvanizing Material and would it cure while heating it ? LoL !

I used ZRC Cold Galvanize spray. It has a high percentage of zinc. I also cleaned up my frame rails and put a coat of it on the rails. I let it cure and then put a coat of black on top.

I used some brush-on Cold Galvi on a 60 foot tower to keep a few places from rusting where the original Galvi has worn off. I cant remember how it lasted but I did donate the Tower to local Amateur Radio Club about five years ago; no one complained.

Will be interest to see how it works out on the frame in a year or two.
Keep an eye on it and let us know.

For what it is worth, the bed bolts were dual sourced for most of the production years. My truck is a 94, but the bed bolts did not have the "sharp points"; they were of the tap tite thread design. The part numbers as listed above are correct. Here are the correct sizes:
N806521-S102 or S103 M12-1.75 x 137mm (2)(long ones)
N806252-S102 or S103 M12-1.75 x 112mm (4) (short ones)
We coated these bolts for many years (by the truck loads!) When I pulled my bed off, I brought the parts to work, shot blasted them and coated them with one of the newer coating systems being used today (also did the U-nuts in the same way). With that being said, did you find any replacements yet?
