Was just thinking the same thing. pelicanman why change so early using synthetic?

I'm on Valvoline high mileage 5w-30 semi blend and I have been changing at 5k for probably the last 90k...lol

Checkout bobtheoiler forum. Tons of information on that site plus the general talk is that 3k mile oil changes are too soon.

Ranger is 5K with Mobil1
Mini is 7.5k with Mobil1 (Mini recommends 10K but if you do that the main bearings fail by 70K)
Fusion is 7K with Mobile1 (Ford also recomends 10K)

The Harley gets an oil change every November with Amsoil. I only put about 5k on it per year.

I started using full synthenic, when i bought it at 42000 miles.
I don't mind spending a little more on oil, peace of mind. It's got to last .She still runs like new,at 95,000 miles.Plus i baby the hell
out of it.Have to take a nap, just kidding.

Spellcheck check aisle 2. That's one I've never seen :) I actually gave you rep points for that.

I peeled my cover back to help one of my many brother in laws move again. I'll have to park under the heaters at the shop for a couple hours now so it will stretch enough to snap back on.

The spell check and the forum do not like apostrophes!

But at least the new editor is closer...... try it on the phone Dusten.

I test fitted a new 9005 LED bulb into the factory fogs 9145 socket - no trimming required, though i need to get under there some more and see how good the seal is, feels looser.

Started fitting parts for the grab handles :)

My first go at using rivnuts, i was going to practise but somehow went straight to 'testing in production' :brute

Anyway, i'm very happy with how easy it went, i used 7mm rivuts (M5) so i didn't have to drill out the factory holes, and bought/used a cheap threaded bolt style rivnut tool.

Last shot is a quick view inside the pillar, showing the crushed up rivnut.  I would have continued with attaching the handle brackets, but i discovered i needed washers for the bolts i'd chosen, annnnnd, i don't have any :(

While I have my ranger's valve cover off, figured I'd paint it.

I already had VHT engine enamel burnt copper from what I had planned on painting my AMG calipers but decided against it.  Figured use up the can since I won't use this color for anything.

I should have taken before pics.  Just your standard aluminum.  Turned out nice. In the oven curing.

I REALLY hope assembly will be this weekend.... I really do.  As much as I enjoy the extremely smooth and quick responsive ride of the Solara I do kinda miss driving my truck...haha

Gotta ask you about the pillars.  I really want the grab handles on the pillars now but  really didn't want to drill.  Now seeing your pictures it looks painless.

I found the following:

Windshield Pillar Trim - Ford (4L5Z-1003599-BAB) LEFT
https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-windshield-pillar-trim-4l5z1003599bab/?c=Zz1ib2R5JnM9aW50ZXJpb3ItdHJpbS1jYWImYT1mb3JkJm89cmFuZ2VyJnk9MjAwNyZ0PXhsdCZlPTItM2wtbDQtZ2Fz

Windshield Pillar Trim - Ford (4L5Z-1003598-BAB) RIGHT
https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-windshield-pillar-trim-4l5z1003598bab/?c=Zz1ib2R5JnM9aW50ZXJpb3ItdHJpbS1jYWImYT1mb3JkJm89cmFuZ2VyJnk9MjAwNyZ0PXhsdCZlPTItM2wtbDQtZ2Fz

It states that both of those come with the handles.  Not sure on the bolts BUT, can you link exactly what rivnut you used.  I'm pretty sure I am going to do this now.  I see that the one pillar looks like it has 3 of them?  Did you practice with one?  And are the holes already there... IE:  If I buy the rivnuts and then install like you did, the pillar trim and grab handles are bolt on right?

Yeah, now i've gotten this part done, i wish i'd known and started earlier :)

Looks like you're lucky enough to have the parts still generally available for your year!  I'll link the rivnuts i used below, also the tool i used.

Drilling actually wasn't something i was or would be worried about, but it didn't look like it was needed, the only reason i saw to drill was if i bought the 'wrong' sized rivnuts.

The holes were 7mm in mine, i don't see why they would change 5 years later, so it should be good for you too, there will be 4 holes each side, i only showed 3 done in the pic.

There is a bracket component (bolts to the holes with the rivnuts in them)
There is a part called the handle trim (screws to the bracket)
There is a pillar trim piece (with the holes for the assist handle)

Rivnuts (7mm M5)

Rivnut Tool, M5 size, screw type.

Here's the 4 holes done.

hmmm... But I thought the trim piece only uses the two holes for the handle? I'm confused now why there would be 4 rivnuts? Are all 4 actually used?

All pictures of the grab handle pillar show just the two holes for the handle to bolt into from the pillar? Do you have a picture of the bracket by chance? I think I am confusing myself...lol

So it goes the following:
A-pilar... then screw in rivnuts. Attach bracket to rivnuts. Attach pillar. Attach handle to pillar and secure with bolts that are attached to the bracket that was first attached to the a-pilar. (right?)

If that's the case then I have to source brackets...arg!

Don't worry, dead easy, and as it turns out, that bracket is the same for all modern years.

Here's the drivers side You will need the passenger side (they are sided)

You got the order right, though the handles attach to the brackets, through the trim piece - if you look at the bracket picture enlarged, you can see the low points are where you bolt it to the pillar (x4) and the high points are where you attach the handle (x2)

*EDIT
This appears to be the passenger side

Awesome thank you! That makes more sense now. So add in another 20 for the brackets.

For some reason I'm not sure I'm feeling my cf wrapped pillar trim... so I am pretty sure I am going to get the ones post above for my 01' and then paint them black like I did the rest of the trim. I think it will look better honestly.

I've made 4 separate orders with Tasca so far and it's supper annoying... every time I say ok that's it. I see something else and place another order... such as waste in shipping honestly if I would have just gotten everything together.

I'll be pulling my pillars in the morning to make sure that I have the holes there already.

What bolts are you using for the handles? OEM or just m5 size?
