Imagine if you would, being able to get a license in one state, then other states having to respect that license. That is the idea behind the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017.

The nation has a patchwork of concealed carry laws. To streamline that patchwork, the United States Federal Government is stepping in. This would allow someone who has a concealed carry permit from Texas to exercise their rights in California, New York, or even Maryland without fear.

Over the past few months the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 has been bogged down in committee. However, the House Judiciary Committee voted 19-11 to send the bill to the house floor for a full vote.

UPDATE::

The bill, H.R. 38, cleared the House Judiciary Committee and says that anyone with a state-issued concealed carry permit from their home state can legally carry in any state, that also allows concealed firearms.

“The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act ensures that law-abiding citizens' Second Amendment right does not end when they cross state lines,” said Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va) in a statement. “Citizens with a state-issued concealed carry license or permit, or individuals who are citizens of states that do not require a permit to carry a concealed firearm, should not have to worry about losing these rights when entering another state that may have different rules and regulations.”

This story from guns.com says the measure has 213 co-sponsors, including a few Democrats and the support of attorneys general from five states.

This version of the bill doesn't only grant reciprocity for concealed carry permits and licenses, but also allows residents of constitutional or permitless carry states to be recognized. It also opens public land, currently off limits, to concealed carry.

We're one step closer to disassembling the damage the left has done.

Now if only we could get the HPA, SHUSH, or any other suppressor deregulating bills to pass....

(singing) All I want for Christmas is a tax-free suppressor.

Anti-Gun Message from "Miss Sloane" Falls Flat

The movie has gotten mixed reviews after a limited open. It opens at theaters nationwide on December 9.
The plot goes like this: Chastain plays the titular Elizabeth Sloane, a powerful Washington lobbyist known for her ruthlessness and determination. She's a no-personal-life type of character who lives for the peaks and valleys of her job [can you say type A personality] that you'd typically find in a Aaron Sorkin script.

“Partly because “Miss Sloane” is more a character study than a coherent political drama, it fumbles the issue it purports to address, and it eventually runs aground in a preposterous ending. In light of the recent presidential election, it all feels like small potatoes.”

I don't see this as being passed. For one, there is already a permit for this. It's called the LEOSA. (law enforcement officer security act?) It enables law enforcement to do so and specifically them for whatever reason. I have a Georgia carry permit and it's good in 31 states. States like Maryland who don't offer a permit I can still carry in.

There are weird states out there though, like New York. Even if you have a New York State permit, you can not carry in New York City without another permit. Why each state has it's own laws that differ from eachother is retarded. But people vote their officials into office for these things and obviously people see things differently, some people just hate guns.

Furthermore, Georgia has reciprocity with Texas but I'm pretty sure Texas does not have reciprocity with Georgia. Why not?

This new act would be amazing but I don't see it going through. Too many people who are scared of guns. They all think if we make it harder for the honest then it'll be harder for the criminal as well...wrong!

All of us will order a gun and wait and do what the government wants us to, to own a gun legally but a criminal doesn't care. If they want to use it maliciously then they will obtain it maliciously by stealing it or buying on the black market or what have you.

The bad guys are making it harder for us good guys to defend ourselves legally.

How much will this new permit cost? What will be the stipulations behind it...80 hours of training, FBI watch list, you can only buy 2 guns a year?

From what I've heard about the bill, they don't plan on adding anything like that to what already exists. No new credentials, no higher cost, merely forcing it to be valid in all 50 states as it should be.

I don't see it not passing, personally. There's a lot of co-sponsors and a lot of support. Of course the left is there as always, but the public (or whoever) doesn't seem to be biting into the bait that is the left's tantrums over the subject.

From what I understand, this is a simple cut and dry bill: Make a permit (if your state issues one) valid in all 50 states like a driver's license.

I love this bill because it's a total bird-flyer to the left, especially when you consider that this would allow gun-loving Californians (yes they do exist) to get a permit from another state (I think Arizona specifically) and then use in California, the same logic likely being applied to Maryland and New York.

Others will say "Hey, wait a minute. These guys from out of state are carrying guns in my state and aren't doing anything wrong. Why can't I?" and then with time 'may issue' states (or as I like to say 'not on your life issue' will turn to 'shall issue' states, and then we'll be a few steps closer to taking apart all the BS we're forced to live with.

Long live the second. *Eagle screech*

Well lets hope it works out. I think if it passes, all states will put in place some mandatory training though. Even to renew.

Speaking of renewals, some states are good for a year and some are good for 5 or even 10 years. Here in Georgia, mine's good for 5 years. I wonder if that'll change as well. Everyone will go to the states that last the longest, cheaper that way.

I would imagine it'll cost more as well, so Uncle Sam can get his hands on some of the money and not just the counties/states.

Here in indiana, you can purchase a 4 year or lifetime permit. I chose the 4 year.

Most states that require mandatory training will waive the requirement if the applicant is in the military or is prior military.

I did some work in South Carolina a few years back and was going to be there for about a year. I went ahead and changed my residence so I could get a carry permit. They required a class unless you were prior military. That was easier than getting my GA permit back when I came back from that job.

True story, I didn't have to take the class. I just had to show military orders sending me to the state where I was applying for. Especially since I'm a resident of another state. I'm just "here on business" until I get orders elsewhere.

I hope it does pass, the unfortunate part is the various suppressor acts, so little is understood by the general populous about them, that it'll be too hard to even have them listen.

There are already a slew of states that support Reciprocity from other states. I just carried through 3 states, stopped at places throughout the 3, carried in rest stops, banks, post offices and even in an obvious libtard owned Italian restaurant with a no guns sign on the door.

The operative here is "concealed". Truly concealed there is nothing but a wand that is going to find a gun. I don't carry in to courts because they do check. I won't carry through airports though I feel I should be able to. Anything else is fair game. I carry at my kids school. I carry at the movies. If I'm caught dead it will be without my gun. It is a part of my attire, a part of my life.

I was half way to work one day and realized I'd left my 9 at home. At lunch I realized I had left my wallet also but didn't notice till I tried to pull it out.

I must consider my gun more important than my wallet but less important than my pants because I did have them on.

I have a GA carry permit. There is quite a few states that do not recognized my permit. I also have a FL carry permit and I pick up TX and a few of the mid-west states.

A few years back I got pulled over by a local in central California with my 45 inside my waistband. The LEO wanted to see ID and I gave him my GA DL, motorcycle insurance, GA CP, and FL CCP. He let me know I was printing a bit heavily, neither the GA or FL permits were recognized, and told me to have a nice day. If I had been in a coastal county I would have been screwed, but I was in olive, garlic, and artichoke country.

Here in Nevada, for a Open carry state as well as a stand your own ground state, Open carry has more "privileges" if you will than Concealed which I am still trying to wrap my head around in some ways. I open carry my G23 for more than one reason here. Lots of high strong aggressive personalities and egos here, NOT from here, and as soon as you turn around or they see it on your side all of a sudden people become respectful and courteous again. On the fence whether or not If that's a good or a bad thing considering I am sure I raise the percentage of being shot at first if someone else sees me with it first. I don't have any business at any schools so that's moot for me. But banks, stores, bars, even some casino's or hotels although I generally avoid them, no problems so far. Courts no 18 U.S. Code § 930, Despite;

Can I open carry at a state or local government building (library, museum, city hall, DMV, courthouse, etc.)?

Yes. NRS 202.3673 specifically states that 'no guns' signs or metal detectors must be present at each public entrance and this restriction only applies to concealed carry and not open carry. Illegal harassment may occur, however numerous reports advise the DMV and other state buildings are open carry friendly environments. Government employees and non-public areas are subject to internal policies regarding weapons. Read more about this on the local laws page. Read this opinion from the Legislative Counsel Bureau affirming that open carry is legal in public buildings.

Do I have to obey 'no guns' signs on private property?

No, signs do not have the force of law in Nevada on private property. If the owner or management wants you to leave or disarm, you must comply or you can be arrested for trespassing. Nevada Carry recommends taking your business elsewhere and making sure that the owner or corporate management knows they lost your business for denying you the right to lawfully carry. The majority of Nevada businesses are firearm friendly.

Post office.. nope, 39 CFR 232.1(l) Federal property - your rights aren't considered the same so I don't Besides I don't need a   load of freaking out old Asian women going sideways on site. Airports? Ha... yea no thanks for that hassle.

But when you get into concealed, rules change. i.e I can open carry into a court here, but not conceal carry... I know.. I know.... [sigh]

Proof that JUST because you are physically in another state, doesn't mean their rules and laws apply to you. Now when I say laws I am not going to get into semantics here but you should know I am speaking purely on the subject matter of "Statutory codes". The BASICS of law apply to you to keep it simple.

Aside from all of that. All those interested in this topic of reciprocity may wanna take a listen to this.

I feel bad for the way California is going towards.. You wont be able to purchase ANY parts without a background check if certain individuals get there way.

"In a remarkable reversal of a long-standing trend, the number of active concealed pistol licenses in Washington State has dropped by 11,000 over the past four months, a fact that might (should) be alarming to gun rights groups. However, it may also suggest a return of lethargy in the firearms community. However, with the barrage of assaults on Second Amendment that seems very unlikely, which begs the question of “Why?” "
