Most states that require mandatory training will waive the requirement if the applicant is in the military or is prior military. I did some work in South Carolina a few years back and was going to be there for about a year. I went ahead and changed my residence so I could get a carry permit. They required a class unless you were prior military. That was easier than getting my GA permit back when I came back from that job.
