Hi guys I'm at the salvage yard right now and I'm looking in the 98 Mazda B 2500 anyway as far as I know it's the same as my Ranger pretty much I want to put a little bit of a lift on my Ranger and this Mazda looks to have an aftermarket package on it.
it's got lift blocks and what looks like Belson lift shackles in the rear.

I'm only going for maybe a 2 inch lift so would you guys suggest to get the blocks and the u-bolts or would you guys suggest putting the shackles in the back?

Shackles work, but I wouldn't use them. Anything that lifts one side of the spring not only changes pinion angle but will actually take the tire out of center in the wheel well. As this would not bother some, my OCD would kick in and I wouldn't sleep at night till my tire was once again centered in the wheel well.

Lift blocks are cool.

trucks already got lift blocks I couldn't sleep at night knowing that there were stacked lift blocks underneath my truck to be honest with you so I decided to go ahead and get the shackles

I know what a shackle is and I really don't consider this to be a shackle anyway.

I think a shackle is kind of cheesy but I think that these are nicer they have a grease point and I think they're gonna workout better I hope.

I looked at no less than 30 trucks 30 Rangers and only two of them were four wheel drive.

One was a Mazda B 2500 and that shift motor was completely different from what I saw even though it was the same year as my truck and then I saw a 2000 Ranger and I did take that motor but I know that's different as well cuz the wiring doesn't have that black wire that goes into the transfer case.

I just wanted to grab a spare shift motor because I feel more comfortable taking apart something I don't care about versus taken apart and screwing up my own motor even though I know they're not that expensive

Seems like they used 2 regular nuts and bolts on one end and 2 rivets on the other side?

What's the idea there?

Can't get a wrench on the backside that I can see without removing the perch which means cutting the rivets and I don't think I want to do that.

I guess if I were to remove bed I could get a wrench on that nut.

Got to be an easier way to install this shackle?

That's strange. When I put my lowering shackles on it had a regular bolt head. What I did was put the Jack on the frame and lifted as high as the Jack would go to get the leaf spring to sag as far as I could, granted my bottle Jack raises like 29 inches up so I may have been lucky on that

The factory puts them on with rivets. This is a "maintenance" item on a Ranger so when you replace them you use bolts. You have to grind the rivets off.

So one on your truck has been replaced and one has not.

Can this bolt be removed. Then the shackle n spring can be lowered and the other bolt removed? Otherwise how do you get the lower bolt out? It's in backwards. Drill a hole in the frame?

Seeing stuff like this before I need to work on it myself is so helpful. Thank you for sharing.

should be a stamped nut on the backside, meaning it wont turn and you do not have to put a wrench on it. so just turn that bolt out once you relieve pressure (support truck)
