It's two 54w LED bars, yes that 'tunnel' is flexible, it won't hold these on it's own and i need to extend the lights forward from the tunnel into the grille "bulge"

I'm cutting metal the same shape as the top of the tunnel plastic, using that to bolt the mounting metal of the light, through the plastic tunnel, hopefully strengthening everything enough, spreading the load.

Basic relay kit, fuse right by the battery and yes direct feed.

MaDMaXX,

LED Light Bars...  another question popped in the old head... LED Light Bars are different than a couple of Round Spot Lights, what will the grille do to the Light Pattern of the Light Bars ?  LEDs can be blocked by the Grille Pattern.
I'm just asking questions, not what you are doing; more for me to understand whats happening.
Have you seen LED Light Bars behind a Grille before ?I was thinking, SMOKE, that maybe you could secure the light Bars in there and see what the light pattern looks like, before going through the whole metal cutting and mounting process, might save time and then we all would know what LEDs behind the Grille putout for light.
It will be interesting to see how things work out on this  !
Oh ya, what is the Lumens and the Light Temp of the LED Bars !

A halogen spot light has a single source and a large reflector, LED light bars have much small reflectors but many more sources. I don't think it will change much going through the grille, other than prevent a little spread for extreme angles.

Colour is bright white, brightness is blinding.... Ask me how I know :(

MM,
Looks like you have it covered, but it doesn't hurt to check before doing all the work... just me and my Quality Assurance background, again, I am not questioning you, just trying to learn about new things.

Waiting for pictures !

Today, Huh !
Went to Home Depot (HD) to get more electrical supplies for the Shop, hooking up the welder/Plasma Cutter Receptacle.   Doing a piggyback box one for each unit linked with a 1.25" Nipple.

Oh wait this is the Ranger Do Thread...  actually when I came out of the HD and started the truck the brake pedal went to the floor.  WTF !No fluid under the truck or at any wheel so I'm thinking Master Cylinder.
Going to the shop tomorrow for a check up.

Jamman,
Like the look.

What install kit did you use to put the DD Unit in ?

What Head Unit do you have ?

I was thinking the AVIC8201 or something along that lines !

looking forward to hearing about the install. Planning on putting new speakers, and a new deck in the truck in april before my road trip. was going single din, plain and simple, just something with blue tooth and a usb port, but im always open to options

Single Din Units are nice, good sound, minimum attachments though, but they go in easier and don't need special brackets.

The Double Din (DD) Units just have more to them, more options, and yes more $$$ but need a special kit to install properly.

I too want Blue-Tooth, Cell Phone Hook Up, and maybe some sort of Charging, USB "B or C"; then there is the Nav portion with hook-up to the Waze App,, I like that (might be through blue-Tooth) and Backup Camera, always wanted one with sensors but I am not sure if a Radio has the sensors or not !

Is there a "How-To" on this site for the modifications to the Single Din or Ford Radio sized opening to fit a Double Din Unit ?

The reference to the AVIC 8201... NOT ! Too much $$$ !

Slightly changing the topic, does anyone know if there is a usb charger socket you can install into the dash? as opposed to one that sticks in your 12v out?

MaDMaXX,
I'm like you I dont like the plug in units, even though they are easy to install.
Blue Seas has one, sort of the same size as the plug in, but has a mounting plate and has two USB ports in the same unit.

There are others that cost less and probably work just as well, but I like the Blue Sea Circuit Breaker Panels and I stick to a know good..., most of the time !

Check out eBay, there are a lot of them !

I have a small cubby under my Heater Controls, it has the Air Bag Control Switch built in.   I think it would be a good place for a home made panel for USB and an additional Power ports or even some extra switches...

I will list some here:

This is a single port size with two USBs under the lid:

https://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Dual-Charger-Socket/dp/B01C7A6S3I/ref=sr_1_58?ie=UTF8&qid=1517886405&sr=8-58&keywords=blue+sea+systems

These are two ports, one power port and one USB:

https://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--combination-12v-outlet-and-dual-usb-outlet--15830508?green=2ddfbc00-0429-adcd51-98b4-5b81855a6672&cm_sp=Onsite-Recs-_-MB-_-PDP

https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Socket-Marine-Motorcycle-Outlet/dp/B00YX7AQOQ/ref=sr_1_17_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1517882867&sr=8-17-spons&keywords=blue+sea+systems&psc=1

Look on Amazon and see all of the Blue Seas, Electrical Components !

On the deck, the usb port is for my thumb drive that I keep music on. I'm super simple when it comes to stereos. I listen to a lot of podcasts and audio books due to the amount of time i drive.

My lightning has a slightly larger setup, with 6 interior speakers, a sub and 2 amps. But at the rate stereo equipment is out of date, i got tired of playing that game.

Being an older guy and knowing a little about Tech stuff I like to keep up and if possible a head of the curve BUT I never thought about using a Thumb Drive for Music.  I use them for data file, even pictures files transfer but not music but I will now... and thinking on it I can setup different types of music, NICE !  One attaboy for you Dusten, thx !

The cab in an F150 allows for a lot of different things that a Ranger Std 2-dr Cab can only think about !   I am thinking on a Bass speaker and the enclosure is a problem, not many out there that work well for the space allotted.(Talking to Terry about making one for me, I just need measurements).

All electronic equipment, including all of the latest stuff, Cell Phones, Computers, Tablets, all have a planned obsolescence build in so they start giving you problems, you get pissed, and  replace it with something new... !  It must have happened years back too but I never noticed it... something we have to live with.  I learned to buy new every five years or so, keeps you up to date, sort of, and you don't get a lot of problems.

I got a 2-wheel car dolly and hooked it up to the Ranger. Then I loaded my wife's Mini on it and drug it down to my mechanic. By my calculation I was 320ish pounds under the max tow weight.

Morning traffic going inside the perimeter in the ATL is still nasty. The ride back out to the berbs was a lot easier. According to the Torque app I was getting about 13mpg for that 20 mile drive down with the Mini in tow. It got 17 just pulling the dolly.

Now to pray that it is something easy and cheap to fix the Mini.

I ran out of gas, virtually in my driveway. When the light comes on I usually have enough to make a trip to work and back to the gas station. I was well on my way home when the light came on, I guess it must be longer to home than to work LOL.

Gotta run to the garage and put a half gallon or so of lawn mower gas in to get me to the corner. It literally started sputtering in my driveway.

Its 19.something.  I'm the same way.  I've filled it from the e and never put more than 17.xx gallons

According to Ford it is 80 litres or a little over 21 US gals.

I think fuel gauges always err on the side of safety so it would not surprise me if  there were a few gallons left in the tank when the gauge shows empty.

About one gallon I found after my light comes on. Figured it out yesterday.

That's 3.8L every male in the US knows this from the top of urinals in bathrooms.

Hey no need to leave just because you sold your Ranger, at least stop by and say hi every once in a while.

The regular cab 3.0 in 2003 is twenty gallons.  This is directly from the owners manual, which can be downloaded from ford.
