That's an easy one! It is because he is your son.  You aren't going to give him a truck with a ratty arm rest... so you replace it, and enjoy it yourself for a short time.  Then, when you give it to your son, you have given him a much nicer vehicle!  See? It's the way we are.

I do it because it is fun, it is paid for, & I do NOT like the look of anything new, not that I want a newer truck I like the look of the truck the way it is now.

Im the opposite. I love a new car.  We've replaced what I'd call or family rig 5 times since 2007.  Each with a brand new replacement.
But with that said, if I'm making payments I don't modify it.  So that pays into doing stuff to the ranger.

I have never owned a new vehicle, don't plan on it. Worlds worst investment.

I'm on my 4th per lifetime and I regret the last 3. Financially unless you have it don't do it.
My first was a 91 escort GT which I bought with like 120 miles on it out of an inside showroom in february of 92. They were having a hard time getting rid of it because it had an automatic they said anyway. I qualified for "A" plan at the time and the price I got was better than A plan. does A plan even exist any more?
With tax and everything it was less than 11K and the thing was loaded AND very quick.

To get us back on track I filled the tank of my Ranger with the gas from my Wife's Explorer because I had to replace the fuel pump in the Explorer. I had to take down the tank to do it & it had 1/2 tank in it, so the likely place was in my Rangers tank.

98 Octane? Wow. I run the cheap stuff. I would be a little concerned with the cold weather, with the dense air, that 98 may push the limits of the gaskets.

Kevin you got to give up those negative vibes. No snow for Tuesday, I have range day at Wilson Shoals, and a Six8 load I want to test.

I threw my stock Sylvania headlight bulbs back in. For one, because the Ebay ones I bought sucked. and 2, the 9145 (fog lights) wouldn't fit, weird. I think the o-ring was a tad too thick. The headlight bulbs worked well and looked good being nice crisp white, but they were dull as hell at night.

Eventually I'll drop the $40 a pair and get some Silverstars, probably a little brighter than stock.

Was only a half tank {8.9 gals} on top of 87 Oct.  Just like to keep the piston domes & injectors clean. ;)
You outta see what kinda brew I make for a 12+:1 motor.  Better yet, for methanol kart racing motors. lol

Neg vibes???
Hell hoss...you can pop caps any day.  Snow is much more precious. :)

Rigger, try some of these if you want to stick with incandescent.

Tsquare, that's not how octane works, only thing "wrong" with putting in 98 is the waste, i would question if something else is wrong with the engine if it'snot running well on 87.

Interesting point, mine pinged some when i got it, between cleaning the MAF a few times, replacing plugs and generally servicing everything, it's fine on 87 again.

Oh, and i want snow too, but it was 54 today!! that's crazy warm for January.
Checked the oil for the first time since i got it.

98 octance surely won't hurt the truck. In fact, unless a rig is tuned for higher octane, there is no benefit. Higher octane fuels resist ignition better, and thus allow more timing, and more compression because they ward off pre-ignition better. A rig tuned for 87 running on 93 will see literally no gains.

For the ranger, I got word the local pick n pull has a white extended cab that just showed up. Going to get the drivers doors tomorrow. Any tips on pulling the doors wiring with it?

No tips I'm afraid, but if you're willing, I'd love a tailgate cable, and if manual window door cards with pockets, I'd like those too :)

Lower door trim piece (drivers) if it's good and you don't need it ;)

So if the doors are manual, you want the door cards?

I have power doors so i planned on swapping all my door parts over to the new ones. I'll know more tomorrow.

I'm not pulling the passenger door. I suppose if there in good shape, and you want too pay for it I can grab it.

Only need the card, should be 3 screws to take off :)
But obviously I'll pay for the parts and hopefully next time you're down this way, I can grab them off you?

This is assuming that it has nicer cards that are for windy windows ;)

Started the New Grille for the Old Girl !   Back a few years, I took the OEM Grille and added EB Bronco Grille Lettering but it wasn't what I really wanted.  Buggman got me thinking with his Large FORD Grille Lettering but it still wasn't what I wanted.  I got someone to combine the Ranger Font and their creative talents and came up with a fit that works for now !
The picture is the first picture with Prototype Letters place on the new Tube Grille.Still need to get the Graphic File compiled, then an order can be placed, how long, not sure but will post when I have the lettering.

The lettering is based on the Ranger Font with some small changes, and will be finished in RED, maybe not E4, but it will be RED !
Next step will be some sort of LEDs in the upper grille, similar to Raptor, and maybe some LEDs behind the FORD but I not sure.
I did try an '04 Ranger Sport Grille, thought it might fit the opening with a little modifications but it was going to be too much extra work.  The Tube Grille fits without any extra work.

Did an oil & filter change & checked the anti-freeze.
Figured she'd like that since we're looking at 14º temps and 0º+/- windchill for the morning.
Also made sure I have a chain & tow-straps in toolbox in case the weatherman blows it {again....} and we have more than the predicted snow.
Always looking to make a few bucks pulling someone out of a ditch! ;)
