The passenger door fascia/door handle came in today. Included were the power window switch and door lock switch. It all was in excellent condition. I pulled mine off, noticing the rusty hold down tabs and dingy external look of the panel I was removing. It took less than 5 minutes and tested 100%.

I also hooked up my trickle charger. I have about 300 miles before it is due a service. It gets oil, oil filter, air filter, and spark plugs on this next service. I also need to look at the breaks. I will be skipping the tire rotation as they are currently staggered with the better tread on the rear and I plan to replace the tires within the next few months.

With the  economy slow down and Kung Flu still around the Ranger is going into limited use. I will be riding the ElectraGlide more and driving the wife's car when necessary. She is down to one day a week for 4 hours and I am on summer pay until the new school year so there is no OT. Things will get a bit lean around here until the economy starts to rebound.

Don't know if you've ever done a dash swap or just had one out for whatever reason, but just remember: it is easier to take out than it is to put in.  Takes two people to get it bolted back in simply because humans were only equipped with two hands. LOL

So I started looking at tires for it cuz I'm getting tired of getting the wrangler radials and I came across the Cooper Discoverer A/T all-season. What's y'all opinion on them?

Although I have no experience with this particular tire, I have a set of Cooper Cobras for my summer tires and I put a set of Coopers on my wifes Lincoln MKx.  I have had exceptional performance from both sets of Coopers.  So, if brand has anything to do with it, those should be a really good choice.  I like the tread pattern, they look reasonably aggressive without being obnoxious.

I've heard good things about cooper and that's what get me looking at them and considering they're cheaper than the wranglers I was gonna give them a shot and compared to the tread pattern of the wranglers the coopers look sleeker but still had the aggressive stance like you said.
What the hell I'll give them a shot.

Well, my Ranger gave me a big middle finger because I haven't drove him in a week.

Starter took a crap or is sticking so bad that it isn't cranking. Battery tested 14 volts and 12.5 volts under load with my voltage meter. And I could pop start it in reverse just fine (thank God for stick shifts). But once I turned it off and tried to start it, all it did was click once. And the lights would flicker a little, but not like when I have had a bad battery. It just would click once. Not repeatedly.

It has been under a year since I replaced it. So I am having my Advance guys get me a new replacement. I think because of my fenders having it so exposed, somehow maybe some water or mud got in it. I guess I better check into building some inner fenders out of plastic barrels and painting them. :(

Wish me luck. Hope it is something that simple.

Perhaps just fabbing a plastic splash shield for the starter would suffice?  Best of luck, Kaylee!

Well. Update on the starter situation.

My dad and boyfriend cleaned my positive battery terminal (I am at work today and was gonna have him swap starters for me at the auto parts store so I could drive it tonight).
They cleaned the terminals, truck fired right up. No hesitation. Nothing.
Stupid thing. I have had nothing but issues with my terminals. Glad it was something simple. Not like the starter would've been hard. I just put two extensions on a ratchet and can pull it off. Thank god for fiberglass fenders. :)

I have been through a couple of terminal ends connecting to the battery. The OEM were chewed up and I replaced them with a cheap set from Pep Boys. Less then a year later both had cracked leaving me stranded. I put on a better set (form NAPA) where they oxidized within 6 months. The fix was a good wire brushing and coat of dielectric grease and it has been good for almost a year.

Glad you (they) got it sorted out!  Battery terminals are a PITA.  Back in the 1970s, I was an auto mechanic, the guy I worked for always cleaned the terminals, installed them and smeared wheel bearing grease all over them.  I've got to say, it works... just a little messy if you get carried away with too much grease.

I have the stock ones on both the Rangers I have running, those thin metal band ones. For some reason they have not given me issues both sets 20 years old now. Probably luck.

Something about the OEM terminals, they just last better.  Mine are the factory ones, and they are in great shape (17 years old).

mine were eaten up by a leaky battery sometime before the Ranger became my daily driver. Prior to me getting it as a daily driver it was the parts runner on my family farm and was abused by hired hands as well as family members.

Sounds like those terminals didn't stand a chance early on.

Today the temp is in the low 60's so I stripped down the replacement r/s rear door to get it ready for paint.

There were a lot of things that were neglected while the Ranger was a parts runner. We got the truck when it was 3 years old with 50k on it. I think all that was done to it was an oil change every 5k miles until it became my daily driver with 74k on the clock a less than 5 years ago. It ran as a parts runner on the farm for just over 6 years. I caught the maintenance up but I have it up to 135K miles. I will keep it at least another 3 or 4 years unless something catastrophic happens to it.

I did a power steering flush on my 03 3.0L Ranger a week ago, new Motorcraft Mercon V and since than my small leak from the big nut that fits against the plastic reservoir has gone from a few drops a month or so to having to add a pint or so every 2 days even if it's just sitting.  I am loosing a lot of fluid from that spot.  Anyone know what O-ring or seal that takes?  I had already replaced the Teflon seal on the high pressure line.

Luckily, I have never had mine off.  You may have to take it off and remove the obviously failing o-ring, then (oh god) drive the wifes car to the auto parts store for the replacement.  I know, not much help.

Well. I received my Trump check todayyyy.

Ordered my rear end swap kit, gear kit, and rebuild bearings and seals. Timken Bearings.

5.13 will hopefully pep my 2.3 up real quick. :)

Also, ordered some tubular upper arms from a company in California. Meant for lifted rangers. I will post pictures when I get them and do an install write up. :)
