I had to go back a few post to see which heads you  used. I know you used Trick Flo's Twisted Wedge heads but with Dart heads it is best to get their brand of valve covers.  The mating surface was a bit wider so stock and most other branded aftermarket valve covers didn't fit without modifications. Is this the same case for the Twisted Wedge heads?
No, they seem to be ok as far as valve cover gasket and fitment. the problem was  the center was made with an indentation..thats what was hitting the polly locks. Im gonna give these a shot..if they leak I'll get a set of foxbody covers and take the baffle out..i know those work.
I'm trying to keep it stock  looking..as far as explore stuff.

Put the transmission in today when I got off work.. checking that out making sure all is good. Seems to be sitting perfect.
So I decided to bolt my ape shifter on to see what its gonna look and.feel like. Its bolted to a pro tower shifter so the throw is perfect and short!

There is a reason I put this in here.. to keep from blowing my chit up power shifting it..🤣🤣🤣

Ok fellas.. mocked up the FEAD..had to notch the back side of the ac compressor bracket. Not sure why, I suppose the twisted wedge heads have a smaller mounting surface. The valve cover wouldn't go on.. no biggie. It fits good now..

Pretty much how its going sit finally, minor adjustments may be needed.

Pic below.... trying to figure how this all hooks up/mounts. That long bolt is to long. I had everyrhing bagged and tagged.. but 2 years in the making..bags got torn and ink faded off....

Now one more thing for now... the ac low pressure switch plug.. where did it go? lol
This is the explorer line with the ranger condenser still in thw truck.. BUT.. i have no connection now...

Sorry..I forgot I took the switch out of the line..oops!

Finally a definitive answer on a question I have seen asked MULTIPLE times. That darned high pressure steering hose, let it be written, if the hose is from a 3.0 it does not work. Really cool.

long bolt looks like it might be for the intake plenum not the elbow??
could you have gotten your bolts mixed up?

2000 Ranger 300K v8 is happening now maybe these threads can help each other :)

I happened to have a 99 merc intake in my hands yesterday so I took the elbow bolt out to measure it for you
It is just over  6.25" long

I like that crossmember, is it strong enough? Any more pics of it?

Get you some today J.
As far as strength.. yes. I believe it.will hold up. Its a solid piece  for sure.

So on the fan, you think thats ok where I put it..further in the shroud?
May go to the junkyard and look at a stock setup and see where it is..

Here is a couple pics of the Ricks Rangers crossmember...

Couple of under the truck... had to drill two  new holes for it... I may drill one more on each side, smaller ones..for extra insurance.  Ill  be lauching on slicks every blue moon..🎬🏁😎☕

Seem to have plenty of space between the floor pan and top of the transmission... ? Hopefully it doesn't move around that much..  about an inch or so gap.

Im adding spacers (high tech remember!lol) to get the engine sitting as level as I can. Maybe I'm going to far, I dont know..??

New pilot bearing and flywheel..
Man, its been 20 years since I've messed with the 5.0 stuff and t5.. when did they come.out with this???

question is... I "assume" the lip faces out??

This  u-joint is suppose to allow me to use the ranger drive shaft and a fox body t5 yoke..

I did that with a 78 F100 Ranger and a F250  rear that had the bolt pattern changed to the F100. There may be some harmonic issues at the higher RPMs. This was on a 4x4 w/ 373's.

Hmmmm... not what I like to hear. I guess if it does, I'll get a foxbody driveshaft and have it cut down..

I have 1/2 spacer under my engine plates to raise my engine up
I built a custom trans mount for my setup, there is nothing wrong with leveling the engine in the bay/truck, just watch your U joint angles at ride height (not too extreme)
Most of the conversions we do here use the hybrid U joints, one at the front diff input and one at the rear axle input....never had a balance/vibration issue with those
Precision or Spicer U joints I prefer without the grease zerk
That trans crossmember looks pretty stout
The fan is sitting perfectly in that shroud!

The clutch alignment tool can also hold up the flywheel.

Fun tip, use a piece of BREAD to remove old pilot bearings...ever seen that one? Once you do it that way you will never use anything else

Yeah J.. Ive seen the bread trick although never tried it.

When you do your swaps, you raise the engine 1/2 inch you say... so I "assume" you had to raise the shroud and or radiator 1/2 in also?
I have bigger gap at the bottom of my radiator than at the top..  do you think that will be an issue cooling?
