Currently, sitting with a Short Block in the Engine Bay; waiting on getting heads back from the Machine Shop. Was chasing down a bad head gasket, to be welcomed by a set of Cracked Heads. Ill get a current shot of under hood later today when I get a pic of the taillights and bulbs.

I work at a machine shop and we usually buy our heads bare feom a chinese company called CIFIC. They have good low prices and the warehouses are in ametica so usually 3 day shipping.

Thanx. I should have the heads from a local machine shop shortly. I always try to support local small businesses when I can (being a small business owner).

Still no heads... grrrr..
Tried calling the Machine Shop, no answer.
I have a busy day tomorrow taking the Mrs to the dr.. If I have time, Ill swing by the Machine Shop (They are a week past quoted time frame now).

Anyways...
Finally for the AC Compressor off (doing AC Delete, half of the AC Components were missing anyways).
Finally got the Power Steering Pump off. Had to destroy the high pressure line (the bolts were rounded badly). I'm replacing both high and low pressure lines along with the pump, so no worries.

The oddity.. The Lifters were Roller Lifters... I didn't think the 3.0 went roller till 92. It had stamped steel Rockers..

I think the Engine is at a point I am waiting for the heads now. I still need to pull the pully off the old Power Steering Pump and install the new one, but really that can and will wait till the heads are on. Maybe tomorrow Ill prep the new PS Pump.

Yeah the wait is killer. Did you see that episode of engine masters where they dyno all the different fans? The fan robs something like 20 hp from a WOT pull. May be time for an electric while you are in there?

Thats why I am doing the Volvo fan setup..

I've heard all the arguments that if your alternators being used more its just as effective in robbing you of MPG but I if I have to remind people again that I cant shut off a fan clutch while traversing water either. even if outside of that MPG was a wash, I'd still do the Efan.

Which reminds me, my new OEM 940 Volvo fan shroud is close to due for delivery.. Already got the BMW temp switch and BMW wiring pig tails, a Mishimoto inline rad hose sensor port for that sensor, dual fan relay switch and some creative wiring on my part.... Only thing I haven't found is the little rubber flappy things which i can always make those if need be.

This was the info I used. Volvo E-Fan write up

I like it! Im thinking of the universal ford alum radiator with efan for $150 on ebay. I have a 4.0 and the dicks on the radiator are in the same location for the hoses.

I had looked into eFan (Kinda funny, my father-in-law is looking for parts to do eFan on his '76 F250 Ranger). With this build, it just didn't seem appropriate.

For a dd street car, I'm not too interested in WOT performance, but more low end. I spend most of my time in the 2-3k RPM range.
With Fans, this is a MUCH bigger issue than just HP robbing. Id perfer not to get into specifics here, but to say a build should be goal oriented. IE: What are you going to use the vehicle for? If all out performance is the answer, then eFan and eWater Pump all day long!!

I agree. My build is goal oriented around 200 hp. I got the small dish pistons the small chamber heads and the biggest comp cam they make. The e fan is just icing on the cake. Im not racing it for anything more than fun or passing someone but i know the WOT power is there. Although i could never trust an electric waterpump on the street.

Got some work done today. Heads are torqued down. Lower Intake is just sitting on there right now. I forgot to clean the bolts. Doh. It was getting dark anyways, so it made for a good stopping point for the night. Should have the truck running by the end of the weekend (assuming I have everything I need to get her back together).

Well you could drive it but it would be a little loud and catch on fire probably :)

Funny how something as small as a few bolts can stop a project dead in its tracks.

Ha, nice move getting this rebuilt, very few Rangers this age still around up here.
You can upload pics to the gallery (menu at the top) which will display them in a larger size.

It's funny Undrstm8ed said he bought a new Volvo fan, as they don't have nearly 30 year old Taurus in the junk yards anymore, i just bought a new Taurus fan for the same mod - albeit aftermarket by Spectra.

Well, got the last of the exhaust bolts in. Finally got the Alt mounted correctly with Belt.. Battery is charging now. Hope to start it for the first time after the rebuilt tonight.

Still need to put the Clutch Fan back on

Belt for P/S Pump (awaiting in mail)

High Pressure Line for P/S Pump (Amazon sent wrong part - need to reorder)

Last but not least Hose Clamps for Upper Rad Hose.
**Forgot about the U-Joints.
At least its a short and manageable list now!!
