I'll be using the factory 8.8, along with adding ford traction-lok, as for tire size max size I run is a 265/75/16

I found a deal on 4 aftermarket rims, off a 99 ranger, I don't know if it is a 4wd or 2wd. In general will a 99 ranger rim fit my 02 with 4x4

Bolt pattern yes. Back spacing shouldn't be an issue. I

You should be good with the wheels. The only thing you should check is the center hole to ensure it will fit over the hub part. I have heard of different wheels having a hole too small to fit.

Hub "length" (center hub) I think is the only really difference between 2 and 4 wheel.

Hub length and diameter are the differences. Many 2WD wheels may need to have the hub hole drilled out and retouched up in order to fit the 4WD hubs eliminating the need for spacers unless you're trying to achieve a specific look or parameter variable.
Also:
  • Lug centric bolt patterns are the same
  • Offsets are the same
  • Brake caliper clearances are the same

Most of your local machine shops can/will handle that and if not for a small fee and OR you can contact Weldcraft below:

Just got a email back saying that the range that they came off of is a 4x4 I'm guessing they should fit just fine

Yikes. Glad to hear everyone is okay.

What hit a Tahoe that hard to give you whiplash?

I would like everyone's input on which trans to use. Do I try and make a 5r55e hold to the power I plan on running or do I try and get brackets to make a 700r4 fit in the truck? The 700r4 would be beefed up as wel.

For the 5r55e an upgraded input shaft would get rid of one of the weak links. I would stick with the 5r55e because it is a 5-speed. Other weak points are the solenoid pack and heat. Both can upgraded or corrected.

Probably the most important thing regardless of which transmission is to have a torque converter that can handle the extra umph that you are building into the motor. With the 5r55e you still retain the ability to go in and code advanced settings in the transmission.

Where would I be able to buy a hardened input shaft/Solenoid pack/shift kit? I am already running a twice as large cooler as well.

I would think about refreshing it, but the 5r55e should be more than capable of handling the power you are going to make.

To the few guys I have talked to about around my area, all of them had sorta said the same thing, that my style of trans won't hold up to the power I'll be running....
