Good suggestions and good points, I'm just wanting to protect the frame for the long run and make it look nice. I want the truck to last for a while, preferably for a lifetime or two. I have FINALLY decided on the engine. I've priced out all of the parts I would need for a rebuild, and I'm going for the 2.3 turbo. What I'm going to do is over build the motor, forged pistons/h-beam rods, might stroke the 2.3 to a 2.5, good head/cam, high volume oil pump with a bigger sump (on the fence about that. I've read that the high volume pump will suck the sump dry) and then turbo it. The reason for overbuilding the motor is I want the engine to make decent power on its own and even more with a turbo. Don't want a great big huge turbo, just a smaller one that comes on at about 2,500-3,000 rpms. I want the engine to have a redline at 8k, I won't always be at redline but would love to be able to rev it out. There's a lot of wants, I know I'll have to compromise, but that's the goal. I've got 2 blocks in the barn right now, so I figured I might as well use 'em! What I learn from the built 2.3 I'll use for the other one and stick it something cool and different. We'll see what happens, saving to buy a house at the end of the year but if that falls through the girlfriend gave me to go-ahead to buy truck parts. I truly am loved lol.
Parts list for the build, I'm sure I've forgotten some stuff. Also, everything is rounded way up. On the expensive stuff (head, intake, rods, pistons etc. are rounded up at least $100 due to shipping/and covid potentially making prices go up)
