LOL NOOOOOOOO! I have had several excellent experiences. Actually every other one except this one, it has been a royal nightmare. I still haven't figured out why the right rear drum is locked up, I have soaked it in brute blast. The thing will not move, kinda like wheel drag don't move. I'm pretty sure it was not like that when I bought it. It winched on the trailer just fine.

So here is a big tip if you want to flip a ranger.

Don't buy anything with deep motor problems, unless it is a timing belt on a 2.3/2.5. Get the ones with bad brakes or electrical problems.... things easy to fix.

Another idea is smack the drum with a bfh till it breaks which will be easy to do with a cast drum. You could try grinding the anchor pins on the back of the backing plate. Just giving you some helpful ideas that have worked for me. But I know your trying to keep the cost down on this project but sometimes you just have bite to the bullet to keep the project moving forward

Penetrating oil, saw a recent test where almost everything, including my special go-to, was crap, Vs Liquid Wrench (believe it or not) and Seafoam penetrating thingy.

I saw that too but they did not even feature brute blast.

It was parked in a vat of tea for a couple years.

What is the weeeeeerd part... the frame. Flakes of rust all over... no holes. Passed both hammer and screwdriver test it is solid.

From what I seen of that truck the whole truck looked fairly clean for an Ohio truck.

I know you intend to flip the white one but, I forgot, if you said already I'm sorry. Are you putting a V8 in it or transplanting the engine from the green one or rebuilding what it had? Just curious.

I see you wanting to finish the green one with a V8 swap so I keep wondering too myself why you're doin it to the white one first. Trial run? Or should I re read. Lol

White one is getting the motor from the green explorer which is a 4.0 OHV.

The motor that came out of the white Ranger is effectively scrap, bearing meat embedded in crank and rods.

The 5.0 is already in the 2WD green ranger, I just have to put 4 bolts in the trans, test fit the driveshaft then I'll tow it home to work on it in my garage. Needs all the "stuff" put back on, radiator, AC pump, that kind of stuff. And about 250 other things.

This project took a drastic twist. The expo motor is in and it will probably run this weekend. Since black06xlt is helping me with other projects this truck will become his in an unspecified trade for parts and labor. There are a souple straggler threads here about it I should provide links to them in this thread kinda forgot. Thanks for the reminder!

I've owned every color ranger you can think of but a white one. And with it being a 98 that checks off the 98-2000 style that I have yet to own
