No collecting at this time, trying to downsize all the surplus hobby related goodies that won't leave on their own and which have overstayed their welcome. On the other hand, I've been trying for a longggggg time to get my hands on a friends 7.3 Superduty, 4X of course, so when he finally gets tired of me asking, there could be an exception.

$10,500 might be a fair price but a buddy of mine just picked up a '01 F-250 Lariat extended cab 4x4 w/ 7.3L that had 105k miles on it for $9700.

There are a lot of choices in that price range.

That's a steal considering the efforts put into it.. That fancy dent puller with the glue and paddles may be advantageous to the majority of small dents or a painless dent puller friend and a wrap job and call it a day..

I can see how it's a 'deal' for the amount of effort to get to where it is...I'm not sure what it'd cost to build your own, but time has value too...

That said, the unfinished nature makes me nervous- I can get past minor dents on a 20 year old truck, but I'd really have a hard time trusting the work of anybody who'd get that close to done, then sell without hanging a rear bumper on the thing.

"Rear bumper is in paint, truck will be going for a windshield this week. Additional build pictures and YOUTUBE video available upon request." Honestly, the only things I'd have done different with the build is to start with a truck that's got all power accessories and does not have a steppie for a bed. It is worth noting that unless laws have changed, that engine under the hood is a problem in the emissions department as it's not OEM to the vehicle.

I don't know the guy, his noted location is ~75 miles from me, I do know he's a member on another Ford truck forum and I did notice in CL that he's looking for a Ranger and Explorer for, most likely, the next build.

Nice Truck, 10,500 is high if you already own a nice Ranger and want a 5.0L installed but all done, waiting to be driven... should be worth it to someone.

Clean, Bucket Seats, Black Center Console, Manual T/C, all good stuff, adds to the overall price.

If it was a Std 2-Dr Cab... !

Unfinished nature totally understandable,  I can assure you do not be nervous. If given the chance to show the truck it will likely sell. This one is priced a bit higher because we put alot of our best parts into it. Like 07 seats and consoles, 05 door panels, the 120K 5.0 drivertrain, a brand newly built 4406 t case, 95% michellin tires, new heavy duty ball joints/control arms (no mevotec here lol), new front end with the explorer outers, completely rebuilt brakes all 4 corners, all new fluids and filters (no fram here), etc etc etc you guys get the idea. Engine was refreshed, not all gaskets were done on this block because not all were needed. I did not do lower intake or timing cover, but we did do oil pan, dipstick, valve covers, upper intake, EGR, TB, IAC, etc.
As the ad says many tune up parts are new after that. Trans was drained for over a week through the pan and front pump. The trans cooling system was plumbed and cleaned not with air but with solvents. The trans is filled with Mercon V and Lube guard additive. The engine is full of Valvoline full synthetic, not some cheap on sale stuff.  Fuel system is returnless and the PATS was already on the 99 Ranger. front and rear driveshafts are F150 4.6 based and all brand new. Rear bumper is being painted I will hang it tomorrow or Friday, then shes on the trailer to go to town for new glass. I think that's a fair deal for asking $10500 OBO, We have been doing this a while in fact in Colorado for some time there  I have a huge influence over the market value of Gen II explorers both new and used....(we crushed 26 of them in one summer)..If I was to keep going on this 99 I would do explorer rear axle, torsion twist, some shackles in the back, explorer visors, headers, and then possibly paint (low on my priority list in this shop) but we have to leave some for the new owner right?
I tell you guys this stuff so you know who you are talking to here. Cutting corners is not what we do . The only reason I posted the truck up sans rear bumper is because we are already onto an Explorer flip and another 1999 Ranger which is getting the complete SOHC drivetrain from an 07. This is how my step son makes $$$ to support his family. I also make some money at it, but for me its mostly a hobby as I have a desk job designing elevators for the worlds tallest buildings.....
There is only one way to do a job...so let me introduce myself to this forum

Hello! My name is Jamie Fortune
I have been doing this a while
We moved to Idaho panhandle from Colorado in 12/17, two families and the entire Ford shop.
New to the areain the middle of winter....now its spring, shop is setup and we are operating
This is a private customs shop in North Idaho, father and son thing.
I have been online with Rangers since FordRanger.com and Kunz Corner. I have been building RBV's for 25 years now, starting with a certain 1988 Bronco II. I was moderator on Explorer4x4 10+ years ago, then I got married and had a son. Son had health issues = bye bye posting online.
Now he's 9 and all is well.

This Ranger we hauled with us from Colorado and finished it here in Idaho.
The body is a 7 out of 10 maybe 6.5, but then again I'm not much of a body guy, I'm a fabricator, mechanic, interior, custom install, kind of guy.
There is no rust and everything is straight on this baby.
The 5.0L donor had 120K on it and we drove it home before the swap.
You will not find a hack job here.
My daily driver is a 1988 Bronco II w I converted to explorer 5.0L back in 2005, in fact my truck was the guinnea pig for the first set of TM conversion headers.

We have been doing Rangers and Explorers out of the mountains of Colorado for many years, saving as many of the clean trucks as we can.
We can do alot of things here most Ranger guys may not be able, like ABS deletes (the plumbing), Control trac deletes (keeping E shift t cases if desired), auto to 5 speed and vise versa conversions, 4.0, 5.0, you name it some of this stuff we pioneered (with help)
Lately we have been doing alot of 7.3 stuff, I have 3, 7.3 trucks Excursion, F350 (my shop truck) and a E350. all projects all the time.
We have also been doing alot of UTV and sled stuff, basically I am addicted to anything off road.

Yes we will build more 5.0L trucks as I can get my hands on low mile 5.0 Explorer donors. As those runs out we do builds using new crate engines and my good friend builds all my transmissions (hes a 5r55e expert so if you know anything about RBV trans if you can build a bulletproof 5r well then...you can do most trans. He works on Trophy trucks now) so we can do it. My favorite conversions are 4.0 OHV into TTB trucks and of course 5.0 Ranger and Sport Tracs. The goal is to keep old trucks on the road.
Enough talk for now I will let some pictures speak for themselves.....

No Particular Order:
1984 Ranger 370 hp Crate GT40 TM headers, 4r70w twin stick NP205
See the dual batteries, cruise control and AC all under the hood of a 84? 92 dash BTW

Just finished my Son's 01 Supercab XLT, all power & bells & whistles, used 98 Expo doner, with NEW aftermarket wheels & tires, total investment $4500.....so double + that IMO is CRAZY!

My Lil' Thurderbolts only has $2800 invested in it!

Just sayin..........it can be done for lot less!:'(

Pricey though it may be, you have to give credit for the transfer case part and several other little bullet points. Each one ads a little bit of personality.

Both of you are of an elite group IMO, along with several other members here I have invited through one channel or another.... people who get a rush from putting large motors in small vehicles they were not originally intended for. I share the same passion for this and will definitely finish my project this year. I just wish I had started with a 4WD like my daily driver because I already have more invested in mine than you do Mr. Thunderbolt!

I can assure you it did not cost us $10000 to build this truck in fact I have less then $3k invested (on the books). I don't mind posting that here or telling potential owners because this truck is not for somebody who can build one it's for somebody who wants a built one. I have built many trucks for people who want but can't do, maybe they don't have the time, maybe they just don't know how... that's where we come in. Saving people from getting screwed by dishonest shops and dealers...doing things the RIGHT WAY and for a fair price.
I scratched and clawed my way to get here 5.0 explorers and lower mile 98+ rangers are getting much much harder to find trust me.
Once I showed the early bronco guys in Colorado that the explorer engine is a good fit after a year or so all the gt40 explorers started to go quickly.
This ranger was built for a purist, someone like myself who knows what they are looking at somebody who needs a ranger to be reliable and bomb proof for years of service, it does not hurt to have it look sporty and updated. If you look at the Spokane craigslist or the inland northwest you will see ranger prices are up there some 99's with under 200k are going for $5-8k un modified! I know my market and my target price I am in no rush to sell this truck as I have 3 other rangers being built and a couple explorers so we will hit several price brackets.
This ranger is worth every penny, time will tell!
Oh and I still have the 07 and the 05'to strip down
Have been buying trucks all spring, dragging them to the shop through the snow and mud and getting things going here in Idaho! Did I mention our new shop is 100% off grid? The sun charges my Dewalt impact, Father and Son building customs off the grid 30 miles from Canadian border....years and years of dedication to the RVB to get here
I hear you guys believe me
The 2019 ranger is here the 2020 bronco is coming
Rangers early broncos and 7.3 trucks are going up in value
Believe it or not in some parts of the country even the Bii has a small following and their prices are starting to go up too! All the while our supply of explorer donors are dwindling.
This 99 will be here when the right buyer comes along
Here in rural America people are still depending on their 80's Rangers to get them to work, I have never seen so many well kept 80's and 90's Fords... I know I am now Home.

Pics with the rear bumper hung will be posted as soon as the clear coat is dry

More pics coming

1940 Ford, 97 Ex wiring harness stripped down to the essentials for running and everything tucked into drivers kick panel

My old 96, E303 cam, roller rockers, TM headers, 01 dark interior, 4.10's, 4406, I loved that truck! Sold it so I could get snow tracks for my rzr

1984 Ranger "Darth Ranger" the fishing truck

Wifes FJ

My old Premier

Here's a Mazda B5000 we helped a friend in Denver with before we moved. This sucker is AWD and built for Ice racing....not much ice in CO in 2017 so he did some rally cross

I wonder how much my 5.0 ranger would go for . I have all that minus a/c ,awd , and stock bed pretty much ( I would never sell ). But I scrap frame and slide out of control like I'm a lil kid on the playground . Almost Everyone I see with a ranger on most the forums are 4x4 guys so right there I lost the valve I guess lol

I have had a few 4x4 trucks. I prefer a 2wd with a LS. Fewer parts that can fail.

2wd!! Oh brother LOL
All these years of working on Rangers and Explorers my first RWD explorer was here in Idaho! HAHAHAHA Seriously we went to buy a low mile V8 2000 Explorer and when we got there I was like there are no front CV axles, my brain did a second take!
I am not sure I had ever owned or seen a RWD V8 before! Not in person. That's what happens when you are from Colorado!!
Now we have a Rwd 4r70w to work with I have had my eye on a few RWD rangers already.
Nothing wrong with 2wd conversions, pretty sure the first rangers to get 289 and 302's were the old 83-84 rwd ones anyways...Ive been around plenty or RWD Rangers with 302, 351, 460 and 2.3T in them...just never thought about building or owning one myself.
Now here in Idaho the roads are semi flat, I can see the use!
Run what ya brung

Most any 2WD SUV that ends up in this corner of the country got here when it's owner from a southern state moved up here and didn't realize that some dirty laundry needs to be left behind. They seemingly overlooked the reality that there significant snowfalls/icy roads, but when they do, and when they decide to surrender their 2WD vehicle to a dealer to trade it in (and get pounded on the trade) , it's punk on the lot and usually goes to auction down in Kali or the like. To a large degree, pickups fall in this category up here too.

Now before I go looking for 5.0 Explorers I have to ask is this truck AWD? LOL LOL Never thought to do that before......
I love getting my hands on RWD 4r70w's, my hot rod friends eat them up, now I have the opportunity to build some 2wd myself

Its silly to say "I prefer rwd with a limited slip less to break" Ranger 4x4 systems are BOMB PROOF (at least when Im done with them they are) sure the auto/vacuum hubs, 95-96 CAD, and control trac stuff needs to go, aside from that its just a simple refresh of the shift motor every 10 years and your good to go!! The TTB and IFS front ends are not bad at all.... its the AWD and cheap aftermarket parts that give them a bad wrap IMO

LMAO!!!
NO I hear ya, nothing like the simplicity of a rwd pickup truck and they can go most places... just not where fully locked 4x4 RBV on 35+ can go like up my old driveway or now down our new road
Dirt every day

$10,500 might be a fair price but a buddy of mine just picked up a '01 F-250 Lariat extended cab 4x4 w/ 7.3L that had 105k miles on it for $9700.

There are a lot of choices in that price range.

You're in ga.  This is washington.  That diesel is 15k all day every day.
