"That said, the unfinished nature makes me nervous- I can get past minor dents on a 20 year old truck, but I'd really have a hard time trusting the work of anybody who'd get that close to done, then sell without hanging a rear bumper on the thing."
Unfinished nature totally understandable, I can assure you do not be nervous. If given the chance to show the truck it will likely sell. This one is priced a bit higher because we put alot of our best parts into it. Like 07 seats and consoles, 05 door panels, the 120K 5.0 drivertrain, a brand newly built 4406 t case, 95% michellin tires, new heavy duty ball joints/control arms (no mevotec here lol), new front end with the explorer outers, completely rebuilt brakes all 4 corners, all new fluids and filters (no fram here), etc etc etc you guys get the idea. Engine was refreshed, not all gaskets were done on this block because not all were needed. I did not do lower intake or timing cover, but we did do oil pan, dipstick, valve covers, upper intake, EGR, TB, IAC, etc.
As the ad says many tune up parts are new after that. Trans was drained for over a week through the pan and front pump. The trans cooling system was plumbed and cleaned not with air but with solvents. The trans is filled with Mercon V and Lube guard additive. The engine is full of Valvoline full synthetic, not some cheap on sale stuff. Fuel system is returnless and the PATS was already on the 99 Ranger. front and rear driveshafts are F150 4.6 based and all brand new. Rear bumper is being painted I will hang it tomorrow or Friday, then shes on the trailer to go to town for new glass. I think that's a fair deal for asking $10500 OBO, We have been doing this a while in fact in Colorado for some time there I have a huge influence over the market value of Gen II explorers both new and used....(we crushed 26 of them in one summer)..If I was to keep going on this 99 I would do explorer rear axle, torsion twist, some shackles in the back, explorer visors, headers, and then possibly paint (low on my priority list in this shop) but we have to leave some for the new owner right?
I tell you guys this stuff so you know who you are talking to here. Cutting corners is not what we do . The only reason I posted the truck up sans rear bumper is because we are already onto an Explorer flip and another 1999 Ranger which is getting the complete SOHC drivetrain from an 07. This is how my step son makes $$$ to support his family. I also make some money at it, but for me its mostly a hobby as I have a desk job designing elevators for the worlds tallest buildings.....
There is only one way to do a job...so let me introduce myself to this forum
Hello! My name is Jamie Fortune
I have been doing this a while
We moved to Idaho panhandle from Colorado in 12/17, two families and the entire Ford shop.
New to the areain the middle of winter....now its spring, shop is setup and we are operating
This is a private customs shop in North Idaho, father and son thing.
I have been online with Rangers since FordRanger.com and Kunz Corner. I have been building RBV's for 25 years now, starting with a certain 1988 Bronco II. I was moderator on Explorer4x4 10+ years ago, then I got married and had a son. Son had health issues = bye bye posting online.
Now he's 9 and all is well.
This Ranger we hauled with us from Colorado and finished it here in Idaho.
The body is a 7 out of 10 maybe 6.5, but then again I'm not much of a body guy, I'm a fabricator, mechanic, interior, custom install, kind of guy.
There is no rust and everything is straight on this baby.
The 5.0L donor had 120K on it and we drove it home before the swap.
You will not find a hack job here.
My daily driver is a 1988 Bronco II w I converted to explorer 5.0L back in 2005, in fact my truck was the guinnea pig for the first set of TM conversion headers.
We have been doing Rangers and Explorers out of the mountains of Colorado for many years, saving as many of the clean trucks as we can.
We can do alot of things here most Ranger guys may not be able, like ABS deletes (the plumbing), Control trac deletes (keeping E shift t cases if desired), auto to 5 speed and vise versa conversions, 4.0, 5.0, you name it some of this stuff we pioneered (with help)
Lately we have been doing alot of 7.3 stuff, I have 3, 7.3 trucks Excursion, F350 (my shop truck) and a E350. all projects all the time.
We have also been doing alot of UTV and sled stuff, basically I am addicted to anything off road.
Yes we will build more 5.0L trucks as I can get my hands on low mile 5.0 Explorer donors. As those runs out we do builds using new crate engines and my good friend builds all my transmissions (hes a 5r55e expert so if you know anything about RBV trans if you can build a bulletproof 5r well then...you can do most trans. He works on Trophy trucks now) so we can do it. My favorite conversions are 4.0 OHV into TTB trucks and of course 5.0 Ranger and Sport Tracs. The goal is to keep old trucks on the road.
Enough talk for now I will let some pictures speak for themselves.....

No Particular Order:
1984 Ranger 370 hp Crate GT40 TM headers, 4r70w twin stick NP205
See the dual batteries, cruise control and AC all under the hood of a 84? 92 dash BTW
