I have a natural gas Mr.Heater in my garage and do to size limits, it is 4 ft from my hood. What can I buy that is about 4X4 ft, to cover my hood with? Noticed last year it put little bumps on the paint. I can't find nothing or using the wrong search terms. Remember I'm retired and can't afford a arm and leg for it. Thanks

What is your budget? There are some cheap welding blankets, we use them at work to wrap exhaust housings in after weld so they cool down slowly.

We used to use Kevlar but that got expensive even for a business.

I'll price one tomorrow at work. Would help to remind me, I'm not retired but my brain has.

or a stop at a local metal shop and pick up a 4x4 sheet of 3/32" - 1/8" sheet metal, put two slight folds in it and stand it upright next to the heater, May actually direct the heat around better in a convection type aspect.. hard to say without a picture of the situation at hand.

Depending on how long you have the heater on for, you might want to have something under it to stand it off the hood.

Heat-soak will become a factor and you're back to square one.

Bit late to the party but what about some of that foil they put behind radiators to reflect the heat?

Or if you know a paramedic (do you have those in the US?) get a couple of the gold foil wraps they give people to keep them warm ...

Essentially yes, the blanket will heat up to almost the temp the hood was getting, so if you can leave an air gap, it should work well.

Easier solution - small piece of 60-90 degree bent metal held in front of the heater, mounted to the shelf bracket you're using that would shield the vehicle, would barely, if at all, affect the room heating.

Imagine the heater was a light source, make the metal you mount in front cast a shadow on the hood, if that makes sense?

I'll get a couple of hooks and mount to wall, hang welding blanket and lay it on the hood and it will be angled upward.

That would actually be "UP" from where I am. LOL Cold ones always sound good, especially when they are consumed among friends with common interests (such as trucks)! :)
