I had a black truck back in the early 80's and swore I would never own a black vehicle again. In the mid 90's I bought my wife a black sedan and immediately regretted it. In 2013 I bought the Fusion and it is Black. My second least favorite color is silver and that is the color of my Ranger.

At least I learned the lesson of owning first year models fairly quick.

The rear of the std cab sits higher than the ex cab but that's about all. The camera was closer to the short one I can assure you it is the same overall dims except the length.

Short one is 112" wheelbase
Long one is 126"

So yes optical illusion
