Specifics: 99 explorer sport (not sport trak just 2 door sport) dome light, 2000 ranger single cab. A lot of them might be the same in the explorers, and I know there are mild differences in short cab/extended cab dome lights but just by a plastic tab.

How I did it? So simple I didn't have to think much which is good in my case. I took the explorer dome light, busted the plastic location tab off the back, and had to use the ranger screws because they were longer. Really that's all it went right in!

The proof:

The hardest part? Removing the 2 map bulbs to insert LED's. Seriously they are so far in the plastic it is impossible to grab them with your fingers.

But be careful, I tried needle nose pliers and was successful in getting one out, but the other was kinda melted in the socket (the previous owners must have had kids, they tend to be map light heavy users) SO in my efforts to pry and use pliers I totally smashed one of the bulbs. My finger was close to the pliers trying to assist:

The glass might still be in there no telling.

Have a safe install!

Was there a plastic tang you had to break off? Both of you?

IIRC it was a direct bolt in mod.

My assumption is that all of you have the Extended Cab as a Mod Truck !

Are there any Interior Lights that improve the Single Cab ?
Maybe just an LED Bulb !
Buggman, what mods do you have to improve the Lighting on the inside of a Single Cab EDGE ?

Front and Rear Bumpers by Custom 4x4 Fabrication, OK; now Mike's Welding and Fabrication.
Working on more Mods, just need more time, longer days would work !

Nope mine is in a short cab. The tab is in a different place on short cabs as long cabs AND there are 2 different dome lights for the ranger in general, one with the center light and one without. Covers are exactly the same they look the same and the one without the center light still has the reflector in the middle just no socket or no light. Seen it with my own eyes.

I don't know for sure, but so far the screws (which carry the electric to this assembly) have been in the exact same location every dome I have examined expo or ranger. Can't confirm this since I have only seen a dozen or so but the evidence is real. The tabs I believe are just for speedy assembly in the factory, just break it off and you have a universal dome light.

The screws were longer in my short cab than they were in the explorer, I had to use the ranger screws.

So what Interior Lights fit the single cab, and which one did you use ?
I probably won't need a larger rear overhead once the OHC Lighting once the wiring is hooked up, I have a two center LED Panels, which WILL at sometime in the future light up together and then it is divided for the lap lights on separate switches.

Just interested for future projects !
