Specifics: 99 explorer sport (not sport trak just 2 door sport) dome light, 2000 ranger single cab. A lot of them might be the same in the explorers, and I know there are mild differences in short cab/extended cab dome lights but just by a plastic tab. How I did it? So simple I didn't have to think much which is good in my case. I took the explorer dome light, busted the plastic location tab off the back, and had to use the ranger screws because they were longer. Really that's all it went right in! The proof: ![]() The hardest part? Removing the 2 map bulbs to insert LED's. Seriously they are so far in the plastic it is impossible to grab them with your fingers. But be careful, I tried needle nose pliers and was successful in getting one out, but the other was kinda melted in the socket (the previous owners must have had kids, they tend to be map light heavy users) SO in my efforts to pry and use pliers I totally smashed one of the bulbs. My finger was close to the pliers trying to assist: ![]() The glass might still be in there no telling. Have a safe install!
