Got an issue I bought a 3in coil spacer lift only because I had to replace upper and lower ball joints and thought what the hell right? So 3in coil spacers 4 new shocks and 2in blocks and u joints from ebay s.s (I can't remember the mfg) anyways I am putting this lift on the front suspension first because it's the hardest. Bought a spring compressor and new sway bar links painted everywhere since it was all apart and go to reassemble and   my inner fender wells up using a bottle jack to press my uca down enough to secure the pinch bolt. TOOK IT ALL BACK OFF IMMEDIATELY. my fault for doing   research I suppose but only way I can reinstall correctly I with extended upper control arms. Well those kits are triple the price what I paid for this one. Feel cheated but i didn't know when I ordered it. ANY SUGGESTIONS? i can't find any extended uca for that model ranger 2wd.  Like at all. will a jeep or f150 uca be extended enough to compensate the extra 3in lift on the front? Anyone know of uca I can buy to accommodate this coil spacer? Just sick about it honestly and if buying a kit with extended control arms is my only option then idk. It's 2wd wasn't planning on putting that kinda $ into it for just a daily driver. Just wanted to do some weekend mods for apperance not a off road build project. PLEASE HELP?

Hi, welcome to FR. 3 inches is actually a LOT for a 2wd front end. I honestly do not have experience with lifting 2wd but I have seen kits.

All the good 2wd lift kits include a spring and a replacement knuckle. It isn't going to be too expensive. Boy do I understand budget.

On my 2008 2wd I put 2” lift coils in it and didn't need longer control arms. The MaxTrac kit with the lift coming from the new knuckle is honestly the best way to go. Maybe ask the company if you can send the coils back and save up for the MaxTrac kit? If not, 2” coils will work. It is a pain to get the control arm to go down enough to get the pinch bolt to seat, I used my heavy duty ratchet straps and a Jack to pull it all together. HEAVY DUTY RATCHET STRAPS, not cheap Walmart ones or harbor freight ones. I honestly do NOT suggest this/condone this, it's just what I did (looking back now I was very lucky). If possible maybe a shop can install them? What's the specific reason you need longer control arms?

You will find varying opinions on brands, parts configurations, people preferences to cost over quality (When quality actually counts not just saying so).  There are large differences between kitted parts that can work well together vs a Suspension system designed for a specific vehicle and a specific purpose.  We can certainly offer more details, but as Jammon described, doing things the right way can be cost effective and offer quality upfront in headaches and over long term use.  That being said, expense is relative to material quality, ease of use or installation, cost of ownership, warranties, customer service, and overall customers perceived value.

The Following components would be a formidable option and likely get you the look, actual capability with ground clearance, a far better ride than your previous choices, and actually affordable.  I would also point out that it will be a far safer vehicle for you and others on the road with you.  Would need to know whether you have "StabilTrak" for the proper components, and although I seen you have the 3.0L for your application, for others reading later, 4 or 6cyl info will/can matter.  These are pricing relevant bits of information.

Thought a:
Optional:

With the above you really would not need an adjustable UCA, despite our suggestion of always opting for it if it's within your budget simply because of the added alignment benefits and suspension tuning possibility's.  If you're mostly after a "look" rather than doing a lot of off-roading as you stated.  This would be a safe and better riding consideration and away from a rough ride with just spacers, whether aluminum or delrin/urethane based.   The suggestion that you also should consider the condition of the front and rear leaf hangers, especially if you're in the snow belt, and replace.  If it were us, for the lower cost of peace of mind being necessary to doing good work, we would do it anyway just because we're in there.  Plus we want a customer to see their best interests in mind taken even if they were not too active in thought about it themselves outside of shiny parts.

Option b:
Or..
And or..

  • Ranger Uniball Upper Control Arms, 1" Uniball-joints - Coilspring Truck price $699.00 [Not on the site at this time]

THANKS FOR THE INFO i know this is an old thread now but i took the kit off kept the shocks with it on. think i might save it for someone else and sell it but i am the type of person who will inform the of the issues i had or i might do some trading. plan on getting the extended spindle kit. im stuck between making this a project truck and just keeping it as a daily but yes thanks so much for the info. it clears things up. being a 1st time ford owner had me a bit of a loss but i am up to speed now. kit wasnt that expensive. about 170.00 total i just didnt know if there were other options that didnt include a 700.00 kit. which i can totally afford just thought it was overkill for a daily.

Why would it be overkill for a daily? You spend the most time in it, probably so much so that your vehicle is almost an extension of you and your personality in some ways if you're like everyone else whose a gear head.  Keep in mind our time is near the end for enjoying our conventional vehicles possibly.

Aside from that, there are people who spend upwards of $5k-$16k on suspension for a vehicle they may only drag out of their garage/shop 1-3 times a year, maybe a dozen times.  I dont think cost is as relative of a factor as how and why you use the vehicle of any mod you may do and if it brings you joy in your life.  Quality is, serviceability/durability is.

Your truck may not be your hobby, but whatever it is, get something for your hard earned money, Otherwise inflation is going to drain it from your accounts.. ;-)
