My 2011 Ranger came with a spray in bedliner.  The screws that hold the panel / cover on the back of the tailgate are very large raised mushroom head screws which are NOT original equipment.  Refer to the attached photo(s).  There are eight of them.  The only thing that I can think of is that they were intended to be used with a set of loading ramps that were not included with my truck.  The loading ramps would have a "keyslot" that would allow the "hole" part of the "keyslot" to drop over the heads and then slide to the bottom of the "slot" part of the "keyslot" and then be locked in place.  I have asked at a couple of dealers and none have ever seen these kinds of screws.  Wondering if anyone can confirm that these screws were part of a loading ramp system and if so what brand / model?  If not what is their purpose?  Thanks in advance for your help!

I for one have never seen screws like that on a Ranger.
Although, they look like some sort of Rack or Box System, that slides in place.

As to being used for a Ramp System, it would have to be a very light weight system for something like Bicycles because the tailgate sheet metal is not that strong.

It will be interesting to see what people have to say !

I have, those are meant for the plastic bedliners that stand off a little. Problem is there are several different sizes they used during the years. Yours being spray in takes the stock bolts which will be a torx button head. I can snap a pic of one here in a minute I have an inordinate amount of spare parts laying around.

The screws you have are these and are meant to hold plastic bedliner type tailgate covers on:

The ones you need look a little like this:

The problem is there were a couple different thread patterns. Take one out, look at the bottom. If it looks like this:

THEN you can use any 1/4 diameter rounded head screw. ****HINT****

This is the exact same size screw used for attaching license plates to plastic nuts. I would go get some phillips head license plate bolts and use them. The phillips head style is rounded corners AND are available in stainless steel which looks cool against the black spray bedliner.

That makes sense from a functional standpoint but that would imply that originally there was a plastic bedliner and then it was removed and replaced with the spray-on bedliner.  I don't recall seeing any other such mushroom head screws elsewere in the bed but I will have a look.  Thanks!

When I hauled that last load of brick I put every bit of it on the tailgate so I wouldn't have to keep crawling in the bed....not a scratch or dent to be found

The screws were only used for the tailgate and replaced the ones that hold the access panel to the tail gate. They just remove the screws you needed and replaced them with the shoulder bolts.
