I have hooked up my ranger to my obd1 tester and show a lean code and a not in neutral code. Nothing shows up for brakes, yet the park and abs warning lights are on and stay on all the time. I just replaced the master, rear shoes and wheel cylinders and both rear brake lines. Wondering if there is a way to test specifically why the lights are on or where to start?

The brake light may just be a bad switch (not sure where it is located on the 1993). As for the ABS, first guess would be the sensor/cable at the front wheels. I think you can check those with a VOM for resistance. My son, ArcticWolf1911, fixed his 1999 that way.

I think my problem is similar.  My parking brake warning light is bright, when I release the parking brake, the brake warning light (same light) goes a little dimmer.  Is that playing a "dual" warning notice?  Showing the parking brake light is working, but still a brake problem?

I probably sound like a broken record here, but check that switch AND the wiring.  Yours sounds more like a faulty switch or ground to me.

I recently had a new fuel pump installed by my mechanic.  They had to lower the gas tank to install it.  This brake light problem showed up a few weeks later.  Could they have weakened a wire?  Anyway, I know just enough to be dangerous when working on the truck (other than changing the oil).  This switch and wiring I guess I'll have to let a mechanic check out.

On a 93 my guess they are two independent issues.

My guess on the brakes if fluid is adequate and the breaking is normal: wiring or sensor issue

Funny thing, I had my ABS Sensor disconnected from the rear axle for quite a while, 2003 EDGE.
I think it was left off when the FX4 Axle was installed.
Yes, the ABS didn't work and I was having problems, looked more into the actual braking problems and found the disconnected sensor.
But, I didn't get any Warning Lights or code indication when having the vehicle serviced for other things.
I cleaned up the Connectors, connected the Wiring for the ABS to the rear axle, and Wham-Bam the brakes are good to go but nothing about the lighting.
Maybe I did the "BRP" and just can't remember.  (BRP = Bulb Removal Procedure)

The Park Warning Light you mentioned in the OP, is that the Light that tells you the Parking Brake is engaged ?
If so, the switch  could be the problem, as stated check the Wiring to and from it.
I have found sometimes when I do use the P-Brake, if I don't release the Brake and let it come up by itself and slam home, the light will stay on.
Who knows the switch may have just slipped out of position.

Well, I wanted to give everyone the outcome on my problem of the brake light and ABS brake light were both on and not going off. This is the type of outcome I really like...

The problem went away on its own!  I drove over a pretty high tree trunk root at our local fisherman's park here (to get a parking spot) and when I backed back out over the tree trunk again to leave, both lights went out and haven't come back on since. That was several weeks ago.   What do you think of that?   Lose wire?

Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions.  When the problem first started, my mechanic said if the lights don't bother you, I would just leave it be.  Well, the lights were starting to bother me, but glad the problem went away on its own.

Well, I guess congratulations are in order!  Glad your problem fixed itself, however, makes you wonder WHEN it will come back to haunt you.  Just remember where that tree trunk is in case you need to "fix" your truck again!  :-)

LOL!   You're right, I'll have sneak a sign up at night that says "Reserved" so I'll always have my tree root parking space.  The tree didn't even charge me labor!
