I'll be pulling the bed off my Jalape±o project this winter for several reasons:

1. Running a new wiring harness for backup camera, tail lights, bed accessory lights, switch for tailgate, extras for things I haven't thought of yet.

2. Close examination of spare tire mechanism, fuel tank, brake lines, springs and shackles.

3. Fixing a dent in the bed.

But while I'm under there I'll power wash the frame (it is in incredibly good shape) and paint it. I would like to paint the front calipers black and the rears also (I'm prepping an expo rear end) AND the rear axle housing too.

What is the paint or process you have used in the past and what were the results? I have had a gallon of Magnet Paint UCP99-01 in my e-bay cart for over a year now, some say por-15 some like magnet but I have never used anything but a rattle can so far.

I don't think you can go wrong with either por15 or magnetpaint.

But, I used Rustoleum rattlecans after wirewheeling and degreasing and after 2 years and 2 quebec winters it has held up great.

I've used oil based paint and had great luck with it so far.

FORGET POR-15
Expensive
no UV protection

use Chassis Saver from Magnet paints!

WAAAAAAAAY better

Do not get it in your hair or weeks later you will still have it in your hair.

I have been slathering chassis saver all over my BII for a few months now....rust repair.

POR-15 has no uv protection and turns dull grey in sunlight or exposed to weather like sprinklers, rain water, etc.....
Chassis saver is the shiznit and its CHEAPER same dude who makes Monstaliner makes it
It goes a LONG WAY too half gallon has lasted me through this whole project and I still have 1/4 can left

Whatever you decide follow the directions
Basically for me I remove all rust, remove more rust, remove the rust scale, any hint of rouge, then scuff it up with like 80 grit, clean with soap and water, then final wipe with acetone then apply chassis saver. It calls for two coats min. The stuff dries into like a shiny plastic coating...it is so cool to work with.....

BII rips the floor pans wide open when you wheel them, I had been meaning to fix these cracks for about 5 years now, the rips in the floor pans had been allowing water to soak the underside of my carpet kit for years...rusting out the floors. So I finally fixed it.

Before during after:

I use weld through primer on all parts, the final three coats of Chassis saver on top and underneath... and finally rust stopping black paint on the top

Chassis saver after two coats:

Stuff is awesome, like a shield for metal

I am using gloss black I believe? I have had the can for like 3 years before I finally got to use it
I have seen it used on frames and suspension parts and it looks awesome when done
He makes colors now too
