Doing a rear brake line today on the pumpkin. Was getting bad double flares, bent mandrel in my flare tool that's what I get for loaning it out. Had to buy a new one.
Previous owner decided to use a compression fitting since he fell 8 inches short of his last splice. I run a line all the way to the back from the front easier IMO.

I hate seeing anything but banjo or double flare on brake systems.  I don't understand why people risk everything to save a few bucks.  Yeah, new line all the way back... that way you will live to post here another day!

Jim,

What material did you use for the lines ?

When I was working on the '82 Jeep Scrambler, I used S/S, but there are others.

I was looking for new line a while back, found not only S/S, which isn't as expensive as I thought, but also a Nickel Copper, is that like "Cupronickel" ?
It stated they were easier to bend and corrosion resistance.

Just a thought:  "Is there an easy way to form a Double Flare" ?

I've always used the Mandrel with tapered tool and pin die, but I've had my problems... I remember a while back my brother came up with an electric crimper for a Double Flare, did a decent job !   I don't remember the manufacturer !

I started another thread, I have no idea if you replied here first or if I started the thread first: Da thread

We can cover the DF tool in detail there, but basically I had a cheap one, it developed a problem from me loaning it but it had a problem anyway, I bought a new one that works better but not the bomb.

Well. Not ranger related, but.

I received my motorcycle endorsement for FL!!

I had to pass a written test (which I only missed 1 question) and had to pass a riding test (which I was the only one in the class whom got a perfect score).

Truck stuff is kind of on hold. My dad informed me he inspected the steering rack and noticed it was bent somewhere in it. I am not worried. As it is not leaking. Nor making any noises. *knock on wood*

But I am saving up for the shocks I need for the new upper control arms and lift springs. I am attempting to pay off what little debt I have and save up some more cash. :)

hope everyone is doing well!

Sell your Ranger?  You're not turning traitor and buying a GM are you?

Good to see you! :-)

Thanks, and yes, i've not had too much truck experience if i'm honest, but i've been able to work on my Ranger, i've had a Mustang before and Fords are fairly prevalent in the UK.

From what i've seen in the forums and looking at other truck brands, Ford sticks out as the most normal to me with the least known issues.  Besides, for some reason, the other brands look a little weird, and every time you see a good looking one on the road, you can't find how to buy one that looks like that.

Took the projector headlights out of the box, laid out the wiring.

Now to determine how I am login to fit it all behind the headlights.

Scrambler; go through the hole in the radiator support and keep the bulk of the wiring there.  When I put my projectors in, I had relays and extra wiring to control DRL and halos, that was the only place to put all that stuff.

Thx

Were there holes on both side already ?

I was thinking I had to take all of the parts out and cut some holes just to mount the housings, then remove all of the inner piece from under the hood and start from there.

I haven't read up on this mod at all; I need to check out some of the How-Tos !

I replaced a 3rd brake light bulb, traced down a problem with no reverse lights. There was a sensor there but no pigtail and the wires had been cut. Bought a pigtail and the switch didn't work. Removed the switch confirmed it didn't work, one should be here today thank you amazon.

Then I have to trace down the excessive egr code, then I sell it.

No the pumpkin. Just saw a Taco in the Kroger parking lot, frame separated at the bed, guy still driving it. The pumpkin should last another 5 years by that standard.

Ah, okay.  I checked your gallery and saw the pics.  Decent looking truck, so you shouldn't have any problem selling it.

The thread: Pumpkin

It wasn't necessarily a project and I got it on Craigslist so I posted there.

Broken frames on Taco's and 1st Gen Tundra's are common. The steel in their frames are quick to rust even in non-rust belt areas.

Changed the oil today, finally found the correct oem specified amount (4 quarts for anyone with a 2.3 duratec) and so it was easy peasy. No guess work in “oh is this too much? Too little?” And I also cleaned the engine bay up. It was super dusty from where I work, and discovered it's time for a new air filter. I pulled it out and tapped on it and it was a mini dust storm lol.
