 WOOOOOOOOOOO she's finally off the jackstands!!!!!!!


I  threw on some chevy drop shackles while I was in there to bring the back end up to match the maxed out T-bars and it's finally sitting about level again! Sorry for the crap photo but it was about 9pm last night when she left the garage. And yes I had a damn bird issue while the truck was waiting to go in the garage... Alignment, 33's and a bath will be happening soon.

And this is the pile of rust and crap that was left on the floor after the job was done.

Yeah it's like rain trying to work under the truck with an impact and you have to keep sweeping under the truck to make sure the creeper and floor jack can roll... But for a few glorious months a year ALL THE MOSQUITOES ARE DEAD!!!!!! And we dont really have too many snakes to worry about either so you know glass half full while living in Illinois hahaha

 Good job man!  Yeah, I'm next door to you in Southern Indiana... my truck is a mess underneath.  I would love to strip the truck down to the frame for media blasting and powder coating, but that will never happen.  Hopefully, the frame will last longer than me! :-)

haha yeah I'm in the same boat, my bed is only held on be the 4 bolts at the tailgate now and I'm just trying to see how many more years I can get before the frame gives up on me

 Well. Update.


The 8.8 rear end is bolted in and the truck is back rolling and moving. 

There must have been a brake line change between 2000 and 2005, so I am having my dad and boyfriend going to NAPA for some longer brake lines and they are going to pull the parking brake cable off my boyfriends F150 to try and make it work. 

I will do a write-up once everything is finished. :)

 You will find various little minute differences between years of things.  Most likely, the Expo rear lines are different from a Ranger.  Just a hunch, I have no experience to back that up. ;-)

 They are definitely different. The ranger has a line where it is 1 line into 2 outlets, the Explorer is 2 lines, 1 outlet. So I think they are gonna take it to NAPA to make it work. Gonna be an arm and a leg I am sure. Bastards...

More so cost will be a lot. Napa has always raped us on lines and hose making. 
I had the fuel line from the fuel filter to top of the pump made. It was like $150 for two hard gas lines and to reuse my old fittings..
I was like.. well, it would've been cheaper to just buy the line myself and the tool to take the fittings off.. Plus it took the guy 4 hours to do it and I had a time crunch on that pump job.. Stupid people..

 Don't know about now, but in the mid to late 1970s, I was a parts clerk at a local NAPA dealer.  Brake lines were CHEAP.  I know things have gone up over the years, but that fuel pump line price sounds ridiculous.  Maybe that NAPA dealer looks for ways to "enhance" their bottom line.  Hard parts, like spark plugs or oil filters, NAPA corporate sets the selling price; but a custom-made thing like you described, pricing is at the discretion of the local store.

I am lucky I am dating a car guy. And have a dad whom loves to work on vehicles.. and have two sheds full of tools to work on stuff. 

They ended up doing a double flare line themselves with my boyfriends flare tool. Said it wasn't pretty, but that it should work well! Said they were gonna fill it up, bleed em, then take it for a drive :) 

Kinda wish I could do the maiden voyage with the new rear end, but I want them to do the initial 15 miles for me so I can start driving it to break in those nice new gears :D 

I did a calculator. Top speed in 5th with 5.13 should be probably 80ish, but I don't expect much. I could barely do 70 comfortably before. 65 is okay with me. It said I should cruise 2500 rpm in 5th at 60 so, I take that as a win. Considering to get it going before, it was 4th gear pinned. Cannot wait to be able to use OD :D

Well. I got the text message. Said it is driving absolutely awesome. Boyfriend said he could take off in 2nd gear with barely having to rev it.

 Well. I drove the truck with the disc brakes, 8.8 big beefy axle, that has 5.13..

I have 3 words..

OH MY GOOOODDD.

I do not know why I did not do this stuff sooner... Holy cooow...

It is absolutely amazing. I can cruise at 60 in 4th at about 2500 rpm. I can use 5th gear (I have not used it in over 3 years because it would bog so bad you couldn't drive it).

As a celebratory gift to myself, I ordered 2" lift coil springs to lift the truck up in the front another few inches to keep it level with the now taller back end. 

I will have a total of 9" of lift on my little truck :D 

Body & Suspension :-)

 Finally got the ole girl up and running for good. I replaced the wrong temp sensor for the right temp switch/sender and I burped the coolant system so there's no longer any raising temp issue.

Although my check gauge light comes in after I stomp on the gas. But none of my gauges are fluctuating or reading high.

 @MdubG: Probably not your problem, but remember, the check gauge light will come on if the fuel is critically low.
