I put one door lock on so I could lock both doors. At least I can get in the drivers side with a key. Now I don't have to lock it in the fence at work.

Jim, how did you install the door lock? I've got salvaged right door for my truck, and need to flipflop the key cylinders. No big rush, I'm not going to change out the door to spring, just run my holey one this winter.

Theres a clip on the inside of the door. Open the door and pry it out with a screwdriver

Took out the jump seats and put in some storage! Gotta get a lock for it.

FAR from pretty, but it does the trick!

Ya, my shop manual shows that. It's sorta tight in there, and visibility is about zero. The linkage is part of the problem, you have to disconnect it, and then the clip "should" be able to be removed. How the crap do you see what you're doing?

`I pull the clip first. Then I pull the lock cylinder to the outside with the rod still in it. You have to twist it to get it past the crook in the rod but it is possible. Pull it up off the rod, reverse the procedure to install.

The cylinders have a right and a left, one of the 4 notches is bigger than the rest so you can't put a right in a left or a left in a right.

That sounds easier than what the shop manual says. Think I'll give it a shot on the salvaged door today. Thanks much.

Didn't get a chance to try popping that lock cylinder, but did get my LEDs from Buggman installed, and the Ranger driveable again.
Thanks Terry, they work great, even got them all in the first time with the right polarity. That doesn't happen often.:rock

Gave it a bath today. This is a nasty little truck I truly beleive it is the first time it has been washed in 18 years.

That doesn't look bad at all, kind of like a mini trunk in the back.

Thanks! Unfortunately every night it seems a car gets busted into on my street but I like to always have emergency supplies in my truck (tools and what not) so this was the best way I could think to do that.

Yes I do. My commute is about 90% highway. Only off road my truck sees is a gravel road or driveway so I think they will be fine.

Yup they'll do the job - my truck is the opposite; i only own it for snow/ice and hauling, otherwise it's essentially not driven.

Replaced my alternator and drive belt. I used a Continental belt.
Finally solved my high idle problem when warmed up. Took some Fluid Film on the linkage at the throttlebody and return spring area, used contact cleaner on the electrical connectors for TPS and IAC. Then greased up both connectors with dielectric grease. Nice to idle at 750 rpm again.
