Been driving it. I was getting some random ABS light on the dash for some reason. Changed the rear ABS sensor and went with a new front master cylinder brake switch/cruise control switch.. I guess there was a recall for this. Came with a new harness as well. Installed both and no more ABS light on the dash. Happy those fixed it and it was not expensive.

Hey Nigel,
How the projectors going ?
That ABS Harness, I had mine changed out by Ford over six years ago, something about causing a fire if you used the brakes too much... how do you use the brakes too much; what do you do ride your foot on the pedal causing the system to actuate and heat up the harness !
I went in to have the harness replaced and was told they didn't have any in stock so they disconnected the ABS... !
Projector headlights !
I will post here too about the Projector Headlight Retrofit you did... way back when, "May 2012" !
I figure I will get better coverage if I post here too !
Copied from the other Ranger Forum... in reference to Projector headlight Retrofit... you used the same projectors I am thinking on !
"NewShockerGuy,
OK OOOLLLDDDD Post, May 2012 last post. I had to ask some questions.
Nice work !
You didn't mention you had done a projector retro to a Ranger before !
Can you fill in the blanks for an old guy... or maybe you can't remember ?
How did you decide how much to cut out of the housings ?
How did you decide where to put the bolt holes for mounting the Projectors ?
Etc., etc., etc... !
Did you d a write up ?
Thanks for any info on this, I was going to order through The Retrofit Source, but I am not sure i want or even can do the install properly and i don't want to screw it up !

Next the truck above, looks like a newer version of the one you did the projectors on, is it the same one ?
As I asked in the copied post, any thing you want to spill about setting up the Projectors in the housings ?
I didn't order my projectors yet, I know what I want, the D2S, 4.0, the Switchback Halos, Apollo 3.0 Shrouds, 35 Watt Drivers... 9007 Harness; sound good but the idea of cutting the new housings and mounting the Projectors using the bolt holes is holding me back. It's that or pay $700 to get them done, which would bring the cost of new retrofitted Projector headlights to... drum roll pleas... $1050.00... !
I keep telling myself it is the cost of wanting projector headlights but I still can't press the buy button.
Again thanks for any help or not !
Ltr
p.s. do you have any additional pictures of your Retrofit Projector Install ?
Lots of questions! .lol I'll try and answer everything.
Yea that harness wasn't bad to install. I still am getting an intermittent ABS light going at slow speeds and at very random not often times... It's odd. I want to say it's wiring somewhere. But when I unplug the sensor the light immediately comes on. Turn truck off plug sensor back on and it goes off, so it's doing the self check fine, but something is happening somewhere.
Projectors are great. They will actually be up forsale here once I start my new retro-fit. I have been sitting on Mini D2S 4.0's now for what seems like a year. What I currently have is Mini D2S 2.0s. They are nice. I will post some pictures up.
Doing a retro-fit isn't too hard but you really have to be patient if it's your first time. Measure and then figure out where the center of the headlight/projector is going to be in a way. I think there are threads (i'll have to see and try to find them) but a couple people on here and the other ranger forums have done retros with pictures and some guidance. With the mini 2.0's I just simply enlarged the stock headlight hole until I could fit the threaded shaft of the projector into the housing. Then trimmed the shroud to fit. With the new mini 4.0 I will have to mount the projector using bolts because I WILL have to cut more of the headlight back out to accommodate the length of this projector since it's longer.
I have used TRS for years, back when I did a retro on my STi so we are talking 8+ years ago. Their customer service is always great, never any issues.
Just a couple pictures of the retro fit that I found from years ago. Note that they are still going strong today. Only thing I did was change the bulbs.

It's definitely a fun project to do and I would say if you are at all patient and can measure/do detail oriented work then it shouldn't be a problem. I don't like the new trend of Bluetooth controlled halos or all the flashy lights. I just want bi-xenon projectors and I like to have a back illuminated amber ring only when the parking lights are on. I'm not huge into halos and all that stuff so to me it's just too much plus adds complexity to the whole thing. If I were you, I would pick up a pair of spare headlights cheaply... IE> junk yard/craigslist and then pick up a set of acme projectors which I think can be had for $30... that way IF you screw up you will learn from it and not destroy $300+ worth of retro fit materials/parts. Then once you get the nack for it, purchase a nice set of projectors and just mimic what you did the first time during the "trial run".
