I keep looking at my white 98 and my black 06 trying to decide which one I want to beat back and fourth to work. I enjoy both trucks. But the cons on the black truck are out weighing the cons on the white truck.

Black cons. Truck rides rough as hell, and is very noisy.

White cons. A/C not working, under powered compared to sohc 4.0 in my 06

Black pros. Killer A/C

White pros. Rides like a Cadillac, smooth and quiet, as of now gets better mpg

Take the A/C off the black truck and put it on whitey. Then add one kit of nos.

keep the black 06 forever!!!

Past the point of no return long ago
I miss my old 96 explorer sometimes, I put alot into that truck
I have a 01 Sport trac downstairs I am building I have always wanted a sport trac! But I just cannot justify keeping them all. I have the 88 BII, 97 F350 7.3 5 speed, intercooled flatbed 4 door shop truck, 2000 Excursion 7.3 family hauler, and a 2001 E350 7.3 Van, plus the wifes 07 Fj cruiser.....all of these are major projects/builds.... sometimes you just gotta make the hard decisions! Keeping the sport trac would just be silly.......but that doesn't mean I don't want to!

My stepson was just here in his 98 Ranger, 5.0 explorer swap, manual t case, drop bracket lift, over 280,000 miles
Makes an excellent daily driver ...we all drive RBV of one sort or another
It is a total frankenstein truck with all the best parts from all of the rangers he has built over the years, fox reservoir shocks, superlift, custom wheels and tires, 6 disc in dash ford,  low mile 5.0 drivertrain, seats from 08, 08 front clip & bed, etc etc....
You should daily drive the 98 after the 5 speed swap so you can build back up your 06
IFS Rangers are awesome with the V6 or V8, I love the 4 door cabs, I would love to build a few later model rangers after I clear my plate :)
I drive my F350 the most because it is so much fun to have a 5 speed again, especially with a turbo
The BII makes a great daily also, it fits everywhere and has been customized to suit my needs lol

So today while hauling the remains of my 2000 ranger donor truck to scrap yard. I was pulling this hill and started to smell something funny on my 06. Keep in mind I had 1800 pounds on the trailer and 1050 in the bed. I'm thinking after whitey is done it's going to be a transmission rebuild or another 5 speed swap. But this time on my 06. Hell I may go all out and add 2 more cylinders.

Stepsons daily driver frankenranger I am pretty sure he blew up 3 OHV 4.0 in this truck before the first 5r55e even let go....then we went through one of those before he finally went V8. Over 280K miles now....5.0/4r70w/4406m, makes for a wicked cool daily driver

I wired up the pats in this bad boy and when I did I screwed up one of the power feeds it was killing batteries lol I used a constant power feed for the wrong power wire.. Fixed now! Yesterday we installed his front d shaft, had to shave 1" from both sides of the slip yoke on a 4.6 front shaft then it fit right in

Pretty sure I'm going to use my black for my dd work beater and the white truck for going places. The white truck is in better shape
