https://shop.ford.com/build/ranger/#/select/

I built a 4 door 4x4 FX4 Lariat for $46k.  I won't be buying one, but it's good to see the name back.  I want to see the Bronco too.

4x4 XL with Sync and a few more options toggled on...came in around $32k.

I won't be buying one, but it's a little distressing that a fairly bare-bones 4x4 is north of 30. Less than a decade ago, my nearly-loaded 4x4 came in under $25 MSRP.

Base XL starts at $24,300 and a F-150 base XL starts at $27,700.

I am a cheap bastard and I don't see either of those as a future new truck for me.

The closest I could build one like my 04 with the comes to $29,530; XLT Supercab 4x2, no options. Sad considering I paid under $14k with taxes in 03.

Well, we're all a bit biased as should be and facts are facts.. Our money doesn't have the value it used to anymore either, thanks to Inflation and everytime the Dollar picks up a little headroom. The damn Feds print more of the fiat currency up an debase the dollar even more.

On another note. The calculator is JUST the truck. By that I mean;

- There isn't the $1200 destination charge
- There's no interest fees
- NO taxes included
- NO documentation fees
- NO DMV fees
- NO Title or registration fees
- ANNNNDDD... you know stocking dealers are gonna try and add an addendum for "Fair Market Value" adjustment of $2-6K too because a handful of people will want to be first..

So shy of where you all are from, your missing a lot of uncalculated monthly payment and total amount. So if you think that the NEW Ranger is higher than giraffe pussy now.. ahahahaha you just wait.

You thought the Tacoma was expensive..

I had read the new Bronco will come in at Base Price of $27K... then it has to go up fast !

I too am not happy with Ford and the economy, but Ford promised an affordable Truck, nothing I see in there line up is what I would call AFFORDABLE !

I am glad the new design isn't what I was hoping for, I will not be buying another until my '03 Ranger with under 100K miles rusts out from under me !

Of course all that gets added.  It IS Ford's site after all, and that   varies from place to place.  But it gets added to the Taco as well.  If it sells well, or has a decent order book, dealer add-on will be even higher.  All you have to do is look at prices of limited edition Mustangs to see that in action.

The price of the F150 is one of the biggest things bringing the Ranger back.  Sure the Taco sells and chevy sells some.  But until the F150 got high enough that they could bring a truck in under it and not scavenge F150 sales, it was never going to happen.  Last I heard you could fully load an F150 and be in the neighborhood of $70k.  Puts the $35k for s decently equipped Ranger in perspective for me.

But for me it means I won't even be thinking about buying one.  I am about to get myself debt free, including mortgage.  Not going to add this expense.  Plus, the only vehicle that I have ever bought new are motorcycles!

Priced one out & it came in just under $31K for a XL 4x4, & $35K for a XLT 4x4. That is not going to happen for me, I like being debt free. I have only purchased 2 new vehicles since starting to drive in 1974 & this will not be the 3rd. I think I will just stick with my 18 YO Ranger.

High five on the 18 year old ranger club.

My Ranger has been my daily driver since I got it. At 255k and I'm shooting for 450k at least.

If I do get one I'm gonna wait for at least a year model 2 years into the making so all the kinks are worked out. Then maybe buy it when it's 2 years old. Still under factory warranty but with a big chunk of depreciation already ate up by someone else.

So looking at like 5 years from now.

I dont have sales taxes.
Licensing is less than $300 for 4 years.

Now, do I buy a ranger or new mustang?

You don't have a sales tax on vehicles? Texas?

And so monthly payments of $701 x 60mo +$4127 down payment $46,187 by my math...

Go buy or better yet.. lease a mustang. There is 0 financial value in owning a vehicle anymore unless you by preowned and mod or build up on it.

My first house, waterfront property [within 200 yards of] 2317 sq ft house plus full basement, corner lot, 2 story brick home, fireplace, huge kitchen, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, with a 1.5 story garage with a 41;42 footprint zoned commercial.

I put $5400 down in 1997, I borrowed $67,000 and some change... and we're going to discuss a value of a Ford Ranger at 5/8 of the cost of a house like that? One or some of us is crazy. Lol

Oregon has no sales tax at all.

That payment is jacked.  Who pays 5% interest?  My rate would be 2.5 at worst through my credit union, less if ford is offering 0% for 60.  Based in what I was quoted on a new ranger, I could likely pay about 675 a month for 60 months with 0 down.

Were discussing a truck thats less than 6% the value of my home and less than 20% my household income. Vehicle cost is relative.  We bought a new 17 f350 that stickered at 73k.  We put 40k down, and financed just under 31k.  I don't buy cars as investments.  I buy them because I enjoy cars.  And I drive way to much to lease.  I live in a major metro area and drives of 40-50 miles to go somewhere are normal.

You compared a house from how long ago?
Hell by your logic, cars shouldn't cost more than 2-3k

Just for fun I did some looking. In 2011 an xlt xtra cab 4x4 was 25k msrp. With inflation thats 29k.

An xtra cab 4x4 xlt today is 32k

So for 2k you're getting 100 more hp, a reliable trans, and standard features like cruise control...

https://www.autotrader.com/research/compare/index.jsp?vehicle_number1=327089

The price of the new ranger when compared to the Rangers of old isn't really that far off when you compare comparable trucks

Hell when adjusting for inflation my current ranger is 30,500...

This is a good looking truck! Now there are rumors of Ford and VW teaming up to to produce a truck for VW to sell here in the states (if VW doesn't build their own now that they have the facility and the platform) so if I got a new truck I'd wait and see if things come to fruition with that. But this Ranger is good looking truck and would definitely consider it.

Options as I built it. $36,985
