I have been wanting a spray in bedliner for as long as I have had this truck so going on 9 years now and this year I finally made it happen. I did my research on DIY bedliner kits and I ended up going with UPOL Raptor liner. I bought the 4 liter kit at a local paint store. What I started with
I sanded the entire bed with a pneumatic hand sander and I used 80grit sandpaper per recommendation of the kit instructions

After sanding the bed down I primed all the bare metal spots and spots where I went through the paint like on the edges using an etching primer also per instructions.

After priming everything we masked and taped everything off to avoid overspray and warmed up the shop to raise the temp of everything to help curing time once applied and sprayed the coats, sprayed 3 coats on the bed and tailgate with the bed floor getting heavier coats.

After letting it sit overnight in the shop with keeping the temp around 70 degrees to optimize curing time we removed the masking and put it back together. The finished product
Overall I am very happy with the results. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to do a spray in bedliner but doesn't want to pay a shop to do it. That's why I did it myself I took it to a shop to get a quote and it was almost $600 for them to do it and I did it myself for a little over $200 and a couple days work.

I used 3 1/2 of the 4 liter bottles in the kit, I also put the coats on pretty heavy to.

Hmmm.. Thats good to know. Most of the documents I've seen says a truck bed should take no more than 2, but they also say 2 coats not 3. Ill have to take this into consideration if/when I get to this point with my truck.
I have too many future plans..

I like it, it came out good..

I couldn't help noticing you left the bed bolts in, most shops I seen do take those out before spraying, I would think to minimize chipping the hard work if they ever need to be pulled.

I to want to do my bed and I was also told a ridiculous $545-600 price too.. I said it's a 93' Ford ranger and I'm paying cash, not a full size f350 with an 8 ft bed..

Told the guy he was higher than giraffe pussy and that I could save money driving back to Corona, Calif and having Wolfliner do it for half that for cash.. On further thoughts because of the temps here in Vegas being well over 110* often enough. I found out many materials, specifically the more rubberized ones like "Rhino Liner" will expel and collect a toxic gas/fumes with a topper or lid on the back.

Since I have Flip-Pac, more or less a living space I dont think I am going to take the chance finding out even though I was looking at different materials.

So now, I am wanting to pick up this company from Texas that makes a spray in Audio Sound deadening material that is NON-toxic and can be layered in the same manner. They also offer a 2nd material that follows along with heat rejection meant for rooftops, outer door skins, and floor boards/firewalls; as much as 30% reduction So I think that is the direction I am going to go with 2-3 coats of the sound deadening material and at least a layer of the heat rejection media too.

I hope the texture comes out like yours.. I wasn't to impressed with the old spray painted black cottage cheese look I've seen some others come out.

Had it in about a month now and it's been holding up great. Hauled lumber, doors, tires etc and still looks like the day it was sprayed in.

I'm gonna bump this thread again. I just put the 8 litre kit in my Amazon cart. I'm planning on doing the exterior of a camper shell if the purchase goes through tomorrow.  Looks great, any tips on spraying?

Hmm, i wish i had the Ford drop in liner, i don't want rust to form under my rubber mat i keep in the bed.

This stuff is interesting, but i know so little about trucks, that liners/linings are foreign to me.

I have had the drop in liner in a truck and will never have another one. They are slick so things slide around. There is movement so it rubs the paint on the bed and that allows for rust.

I like the spray in liners and have had it on one truck. The bed prep is the key to a good job. I had a spot peal on mine.

You do not want a drop in liner, as stated above they rub the paint off where it contacts the bed. I removed the one that was in my truck after I purchased it & there were leaves & stuff under the liner & the paint was worn off in spots that had started to rust. Research the spray on liners & get that.

Specifically the Ford drop in, around here they work well, aftermarket do have all the above mentioned issues.

Spray in would be better, but messy, and I actually prefer a smoother finish, any idea what the smoothest option would be? (of the available stuff)

Nope on the Ford drop in, unless they got better than the one I had in my 99 F-150. After 1 year I pulled it to check. I had rub spots with rust all over. I shamed the dealer into repainting the inside of my bed.  I am running a rubber mat right now.

Spray in is the best. A rubber mat is next. Don't do a drop in, it is better to go nakid.

I bought a horse stall mat, works great, but the bed base is worn in places and there are possible rust starting points underneath.

I guess if i get a really cheap bed spray, i can run the rubber mat in there to prevent the sandpaper-like effect on things moving around.... and my knees :)

Just make sure to keep your distance the same with your spray gun while spraying and make sure your passes straight and even when spraying. I set the air to about 60psi when I sprayed the material on.
