My taillights have moisture in them and are scuffed up. I was looking to get new ones. I've seen lots of cars and trucks with the smoked lenses. Are they still pretty visible at night? I dont do much night driving but i want people to see me in fog and know that I'm breaking. For $40 a pair I can afford to try them out, I just wanted some input from those who already have them. Any pros, cons, or things to consider? Thank you.

I have spyder led tail lights but mine have black lenses instead iff smoked. They are brighter then stock. I would recommend painting yours with vht night shades before you new ones to see if you like them. As for as the moisture goes bake your tails in the oven on 350 for 5 minutes then gently pry the lens off if it doesnt come off bake for another 5 minutes. Keep doing 5 minute intervals till the lens comes off. Clean all the old adhesive off reseal the lens with clear rtv. Of course you will want to do this before you paint them

Check with the state you live in to make sure they are not illegal. Me personally I want the tail lights & head lights as bright as possible so the idiots not paying attention can see them better.

I'm with you. With the addition of LED bulbs I think red smoked not the black tail lights should be good.

I think I'll take black06xlts advice and order red ones and use the scuffed ones to try out the VHT. I read a lot on VHT already. I know to tape off the backup light and do a little at a time so I dont go too dark.

I saw a couple at home depot this morning and I'm still real undecided. Being able to switch is a great idea. Thank you both!!!

Does it stink the house up when you bake them? What temp do you recommend or should I look that up?

LOL he said 350.

But when I read yours up I immediately thought of the cooking hostile parody video and the "five minutes on low" section.

If you are not a pantera fan it isn't going to make sense.

350 for 5 minutes pull them out if the lens doesn't come off put them back in for 5 minutes. Keep repeating till the lens comes off. I did a set a few years ago had to one light 3 times the other just one time. And no it wont stink up the house or hurt the oven or cookie sheet

My black ones are just as bright as the stock lights. The lenses are like one way glass. At night time you would never they were black

Lots of people don't take into account the brightness, do it with regular lights and/or bulbs and it's the same as driving round at night with shades on.

Make sure they're at least as bright (and adhere to state laws) otherwise you're just hurting your own visibility.

That's one of my concerns as well. I want to maintain or improve visibility but I'm also interested in re-styling the truck. If it puts me or the truck at risk I wont do it. I need new lenses so trying it on the old ones is a smart method. I think I'll be doing a bit of black friday shopping for the truck. Lol

As it currently  sits. Stock with running light on
