Is it just me... every couple years my rearview mirror falls off.
I have an explorer auto dim mirror & I got the metal mount drom the expo windshield, but it's always been a little loose fitting, but I've used every trpy of mirror adhesive I can find... the super glue style, the silicone glue style, etc. but every couple of years the mirror just falls off. I rarely ever touch the mirror & haven't had a stereo to rattle it loose in many years.
When this one falls off, i think i'm gonna gorilla glue that sucker back on ha!

When my dad in his last few years tore his off on a pole in the McDonald's drive through it was black on black... I just used black silicone. It worked and never fell off.

My theory was the rubber in the adhesive absorbed the vibration that would normally break the "harder" glues off.

I had a '93 Dodge 3/4 ton with the Cummins engine that had the rear view mirror fall off after 4 years. Nothing would re-stick it to the windshield more than a couple of months. But then again when it hit 4 years old everything fell apart on that truck but the drivetrain. After a year of fixing something every time I drove it I got rid of it and swore off Dodge.

You need to make sure the button and the windshield are clean! No old glue, no chemicals from glass cleaners. Scrape with a stainless razor blade, or 00 steel wool. Clean with 90% alcohol. Use the primer/activator in the kit, make sure its dry before attempting to mount the button.

I had a car that fought me on this one in the exact same way, and NO amount of cleaning, following instructions for adhesive to the letter of the law, etc would result in permanent adhesion. Then one day a rock flew up and cracked the glass, aww bummer (not), ran it through insurance, $100 later new OEM windshield, end of problem. No more sandblasted glass either.

^^^^ Next time a rock flies up and takes out the windshield (thought for sure this was going to be winter it would happen), it's gonna get replaced with a logo windshield, regardless of how much more they bill me for that glass. Made the mistake of not getting one last time.

CARLEX list the Logo windshield as 06-11. Does anyone know if there were any changes from 01-05 to 06?

Most of my ride's rearview mirrors have fall off at least once per ownership.

My Ranger though appear to last !  I don't remember ever replacing one... oh ya, the first Ranger but that was because Windshield replacement.
Seriously, as was stated above... do it right and it will last !"

One thing... "Mark the mirror position on the outside of the windshield first thing".
Two things, remember clean, clean, and clean !

Most all windshield shops will reglue your mirror. The glue they use is more like an epoxy. The glue sold in parts stores is more of a temporary fix. It's like putting a bandaid on it
