I ran across this thread in my review of the new Site, sorry things come in a bundle, hoping all Is getting better ?
If I was closer I would say call if you need anything, but Indiana would take me a while to get there.
GOD Bless, our prays with you and the family !

Wife is actually doing very well; thanks for asking!  She is planning to move back upstairs to her bedroom this week (she's been sleeping on an air mattress in the living room since last August because all the bedrooms are on the second floor).  Still have lots of doctor visits and infusion treatments to go though.

Thanks Mike!  It's been a grueling 3+ years of doctors, hospitals, clinics, procedures, treatments, etc.  She, I and Cameron are ALL ready for this to slow down now.  Besides, I've got a truck project that has been on hold for ever! ;-)

Wow you guys talking about how overdue your projects are, my 69 Mustang Coupe is going on 22 years. I got it as an almost bare shell back in 2000, 5 moves & a 2 car garage build later & I am almost ready to get it going again. Here is what it looks like now. That pic was taken 8/2021 just before we moved to Virginia from NJ.

Mike, I bet if you get back on that project you can finish it!  I would love to see it completed... but I bet you would too.

Well folks, I finally did it.  I took some comp time I had coming to me along with the holiday weekend and performed the 2010 Mercury Mariner console/floor shift mod.  Lots of work, but I think it was worth it!  There was just SO much involved in this that a how to simply isn't forth coming, and I'm not sure anyone else would want to do this to their truck anyway  So, here are some pics of the finished project:

There are a few more pics in my gallery for anyone who is interested.  Aside from the floor shifter itself, my favorite part of this project is the ambient lighting in the cup holders, foot wells and storage compartments.  I also re-covered the armrest/compartment lid with leather to kick it up a notch.  The most tedious part was getting the shifter positioned just right (both height and side-to-side).  Trimming the bottom edge of the console was probably the easiest thing to do.  Wiring consisted of park interlock, key-on hot for the ambient lighting, OD on/off button, hot at all times for the rear power port, courtesy lighting and of course, the panel lighting.  All-in-all, it took DAYS to bring this project to fruition.  There were many, many hours of research, planning, documentation and collecting all the parts before the actual work began.  The only thing left I want to do is find the shift handle that has the chrome spine up the back.  I painted mine with the same silver that I used for the EATC and console top, but I can't say I'm thrilled with the look.  Sorry this took 2 1/2 years from my first post about it, but it is done now!

Mhoward it looks awesome. But I really want the how to. I'd like to do this on my truck and I dont want to add it to 410customs already long list of things. Mostly interested in how you go from column shifter to console shifter and what you needed to trim on the console to get a good fit. Not concerned about adding LEDs. I've never attempted anything like this but I'm not scared.😉

Eddie, I've written several how-tos, but honestly I wouldn't know where to start.  I didn't bother taking pictures along the way, so I have nothing other than words for a how-to.  What I *CAN* say is this:  buy the parts from a wrecking yard, as the ones on eBay are ridiculously priced.  Get the console, shifter, cable and rear mounting bracket and make sure all the cubby stuff is there, such as the mats.  As for the LEDs, if you get the right console, you get the LEDs already installed.  It is called the "Ambient Lighting Package".  All you have to do is supply key-on power to make them work, and there are seven (I think) colors you can cycle through with the switch.  The shifter base has to be cut down, as does the console bottom.  You will have to fabricate a new bracket that allows you to mount the shifter to the correct spot on the trucks floor tunnel.  You're gonna laugh, but I made mine out of 4 pieces of hardwood, because I live in suburbia and I don't own a welder.  There is a LOT of cut and fit and measure and trim and mashed thumbs and cussing and bleeding fingers and swearing that you will NEVER attempt anything like this again (but I know I WILL).  If you want the exact same thing that I have, here is some useful info:

2008 (ONLY) Ford Escape / 2008-2011 Mercury Mariner parts
Shifter MUST be the P_RND21 pattern (there is also a P_RNDL version)
The chrome handle version is hard to find in the Escape, but the Mariners all had the chrome version
Ranger top column shroud for a MANUAL transmission (no hole for the column gear selector)
Ranger instrument cluster shift position filler plate from a manual shift truck
12-position M-F plug to make the wiring for the electrics easy to disconnect in the event the console has to come out for some reason in the future
You will have to bring wiring down from the column to the floor for the Park Interlock and OD Button
The Starter Interlock and Reverse lamps are handled by the Digital Transmission Range sensor
You will have to grab Panel Lights, Key-On Hot and Hot-at-All-Times circuits from the radio area (radio will be out for this anyway)
You will use the Mariner/Escape shift cable, going through the floor tunnel access cover
You will have to bend/modify the shift cable bracket on the trans because the Ranger and Mariner mount a bit different
Trimming of the console is basically sitting the console in place, mask the area (for a guide) at the cut point and using a jig/sabre saw to cut the excess off (this is mostly guess work and taking multiple cuts)
TIP: after the cuts are done, lightly file the edges to remove fuzz and burrs, then use a butane lighter to darken the cut to match the console (assuming you are using a CHARCOAL colored console)
The console and shifter bolt together, one screw on each side, so this helps greatly in maintaining the correct height, fore/aft and side-to-side positioning so everything looks right when done
There is a bunch more things; small and insignificant but you will discover them and deal with them as they appear
Admittedly, I have not yet come up with a good solution to the mating of dash and console top (there's a close-up picture in my gallery that shows what I'm still needing to deal with)

So... still want to do it?

Thanks Mike!  I recall you got measurements from your wife's Escape so I could be sure it would fit between the seats before I spent a bunch of money on parts.  As it turns out, it is snug, but completely doable.

Wow how did I miss this? That turned out better than the only other I have ever seen. You might have 1 of 2 console mods from a Mariner, and the primo of the 2. Bravo!

Thanks Jim!  Yes, that one you found on Facebook or wherever was an older model and quite different from mine, but it proved that it would work (with enough effort).  I *AM* going to go back in and make a change to the Brake Shift lock.  I wasn't thinking when I wired this stuff up, but every time you press the brake pedal, it engages the solenoid that allows it to come out of park.  I have designed a new, 2-relay scheme that will only actuate the Brake Shift lock when 1) the key is on 2) the brake pedal is depressed and 3) the gear selector is in the park position.  Otherwise, it does nothing.  That's the only issue I have, so I am quite pleased with the mod.  I noticed that this thread has almost 50,000 views!  There must be a lot more interest in this mod than I anticipated.
