Well folks, I finally did it. I took some comp time I had coming to me along with the holiday weekend and performed the 2010 Mercury Mariner console/floor shift mod. Lots of work, but I think it was worth it! There was just SO much involved in this that a how to simply isn't forth coming, and I'm not sure anyone else would want to do this to their truck anyway So, here are some pics of the finished project:

There are a few more pics in my gallery for anyone who is interested. Aside from the floor shifter itself, my favorite part of this project is the ambient lighting in the cup holders, foot wells and storage compartments. I also re-covered the armrest/compartment lid with leather to kick it up a notch. The most tedious part was getting the shifter positioned just right (both height and side-to-side). Trimming the bottom edge of the console was probably the easiest thing to do. Wiring consisted of park interlock, key-on hot for the ambient lighting, OD on/off button, hot at all times for the rear power port, courtesy lighting and of course, the panel lighting. All-in-all, it took DAYS to bring this project to fruition. There were many, many hours of research, planning, documentation and collecting all the parts before the actual work began. The only thing left I want to do is find the shift handle that has the chrome spine up the back. I painted mine with the same silver that I used for the EATC and console top, but I can't say I'm thrilled with the look. Sorry this took 2 1/2 years from my first post about it, but it is done now!
