 Hello to all interested in the Front Window Slant problem.

Jim,

Did you ever get a chance to make and try out new bushings ?

I have been in the Honey Do List Mode for a while now; we had a cookout at the house and the wife wanted a lot of things completed before hand.
That's done with for this year so I am sitting and reading again... Wham-Bam I read about the problem and my mind blew out... Jim was working on this... where do we stand !
So I went looking and hoping you had a fix and it was working perfectly.
Oh ya, I was dreaming because it included replacement front Vent Windows, LoL !


OK back to reality, how's this going, any luck with the design and Parts Printer ?

Sorry to bother you but just hoping.

It has been five months since you posted in this thread, my assumption is... "It WAS a good project idea but Jim doesn't have the time";  Understandable !

But me, being me..., I was wondering if this is really dead ? 

You mentioned getting it a 3D-Printed Bushing and I was hoping it is Printed and it is sitting on the side of your work area.

If you didn't notice I used words like... Assumption, Understandable, Wondering, Hoping... just back to thinking on NEEDED projects.

 I took some time while installing the Powered '06 Mirrors, to check out my Window Slides, their mounting, and the condition of the bushings.

Everything was tight, adjusted towards the front.

The Bushings, I'm not sure what they should look like but they appeared snug enough, but still allows the window to tip forward.  The only part that moves is the window/Bracket and the top of the mechanism.  the window tips back and forward, nothing to stop it.
I loosened the mounting hardware and moved it closer to the window, not much because there was only a small amount that would move; that didn't seem to do anything.

While I still haven't put the panel on the driver's side yet, I might try shimming the plastic bushings and see what happens, see if I can tighten up the tipping or is that eliminating the tipping.

 I did some tightening of the window tracks in the Passenger Side Door.
Remember I don't know what I am doing, I should have gotten some directions but no, not me !
I moved the window tracks in towards the window with a slight pressure and tightened all of the bolts.

I also, sprayed some silicon on the the sliding parts (Not the tracks) and the crank mechanism.
I cant say for sure but it did appear to go down and up without tipping towards the front; I will keep an eye on it and see what happens.
I did the same on the Driver's side door and so far that one hasn't changed much, except maybe a little tighter, maybe the tracks need tightening.

 A few more observations while I was inside the door of the Ranger,
- I noticed the slide mechanism goes to the bottom of the slide rail, and when up there isn't too much room above the slide.  
- The bushings, the two in the slider assembly, appear to do what they were suppose to up to the point of the misalignment, then is allows the Window/Bracket to tip.   The Slider Assembly and the Bushings appear to work properly, I'm thinking the Bushings aren't the problem.
- The only part that tips forward and back is the Window/Mounting Bracket, the bushing allows the movement not the slide or the rail it moves on but the Slide Assembly and Bushings do what they was designed to, move the window up and down.

Thinking the problem is really in the tracks, I'm not saying a more robust Slider Assembly or beefier bushings wouldn't help, but I think if the Tracks were heavier duty, longer, and more adjustability, then we the Ranger owners of the world wouldn't have this problem.

If someone does decide to make a new track system for the Ranger, please add a Wing Windows in there too !  LoL !

Me too, even with A/C, movement in air makes things cooler.

Too bad we never had them in the Gen-3 Ranger.

 I know the '01-'11 Ranger's are getting old, just in case 12o North is reading, but wouldn't you think someone would have come up with a fix for the Tipping Windows on the doors of the Rangers.

Not a lot of people actually post about the problem, maybe we are the only ones that have the problem !

I have spent hours looking and reading posts on the web about the problem without success and I don't think there is a good answer, just hoping for a simple fix that will help with the aggravation.

Does anyone have a comment about something they may have tried or did to fix this problem ?
