Sorry for the 'click bait' title, it really should have a question mark on the end.

This is really for those people who have a new/reman pump and have already bled the air from it.

Has anyone had success in getting them to quieten own at all?  Mine isn't the loudest, but it's really audible when you turn the steering, it can't be that bad normally?!

I do have Mercon in there now, realised too late that it should have MerconV in it, regardless, i'm trying to put fully synthetic in there but can only get a small amount out the reservoir at a time.

I don't want to drop all the fluid like i did to put the new pump in, the weather is bad and i need the truck more immediately at the moment - however, what is the easiest way/least tools etc to drop as much PS fluid as possible?

Only IF the fluid goes too low which has caught me off guard twice

Have you tried using a vacuum pump on the reservoir. These pumps seem to have an extremely hard time getting rid of air pockets.

You could try driving figure 8's in an empty lot, going gently to full lock in both directions several times. If the root cause of the noise is trapped air, this will often speed the bleeding and quiet the pump. Of course, if the pump itself is inherently noisy, this won't help.

Right, and in my case, the problem isn't air, i know that's out the system, it's just a noisy-ass pump :( Even though it's "new" (reman)
