Went for a drive and put the left blinker on and it flashed rapidly. Bulb is good even though I get some moisture in the unit. Must be the flasher. I havent had to locate this in my ranger yet. Any hints to its location?

The flasher is under the dash behind the metal plate by the steering column. If it hasn't been changed already the flasher should be a bright blue color

If it is flashing fast on one side only there is something wrong. Either front or rear light is certainly out. Moisture can cause resistance perhaps the contacts on the front are corroded.

I agree check front and rear bulbs not dash bulbs but the actual turn signals

Hyperflash (its called) lets you know a bulb is out 99% of the time

UNLESS you replaced one side with a LED and didn't change the flasher... that's another scenario

Awesome help guys!!! I havent had to change a flasher since my days of hot rodding plymouths. I change my bulbs annually. I'm a stand up citizen now but I still hate interacting with the law over a stupid buld. I'll check all the bulbs before I go for the flasher. Thank you all.

Checking all bulbs before getting a replacement flasher was a good call guys. My left turn indicator in the rear tail light was out. Fortunately because I change them all annually I have quite a few spares to use till January when I replace them all again. Thank you for the quick replies. I guess I wont need to discover the flasher location for awhile. I had no idea the lights worked that way. FR members rock!!!

Glad it worked out!

You can put an EP27 from auto zone in there for 16 bucks if you decide on LED's at any point.

The stock flasher is longer and has a place where it snaps in to under the dash. The EP27 doesn't have the same attachment, just use a cable tie to secure it. I didn't even secure mine I just stuffed it back under and it has not moved.
